Killing the Amalekites:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070813105118AAs76wg&r=w#P5xUHU35E0w2Lj0EwizL
The Christian responses are shocking. They acknowledge and encourage killing infants and other innocents as being morally right and acceptable. Incredible.
Hitler believed God gave him the order to kill 6 million Jews. Are you Christians okay with that?

CJ, so you're insisting that killing innocent infants is morally acceptable. Brilliant.

Horton, not all the Amalekites were great sinners, there were innocents.
They were no different than any modern society.

Cricket, the order was to kill children, women and infants as well, don't soft soap it. There is plenty of bashing babies against rocks in the bible.

CJ:...how do you get the idea that Catholics arent christians? If it wasnt for Rome, then Christianty wouldnt be around in the first place. do you even know what the definition of christianty is? i dont think so. you fundies amaze me everyday...
as far as your question goes...the answer is yes. for some reason these people always have a way of justifying killing someone else, but will be the first person to bomb or assassinate you for getting an abortion cuz its murder...go figure. you just need to realize that christianty = hypocracy and laugh it off.
edit: wow, Mark scares me...seems like christian jihad is right around the corner. hmm, that makes a good point, am i the only one that sees the connection between fundies and the taliban?

Hello,
It sure looks like there are lots of Catholics and protestants on these lists but not too many Christians.
1) The Amalekites were around in Exodus, 2000 years or so before Christianity. They had nothing to do with Christians and their new covenant with God. Anyway even the Romans who were intitially pagan went out of their way to destroy the Druids and nordic religions that practiced such arts as mentioned. Child sacrifice didn't help their attitude toward Carthegenians also.
2) Hitler, though born RC rejected his religion and never attended the church or sacraments from a young age. He tolerated Christianity since much of the German population was RC or protestant. Though in a few speeches he praised christianity, he did on several occasions emphasize it was incompatable with national socialism.
I know it is easy to forget time frames and facts of history sometimes but time might be better spent for many of us to check out facts and think before we write such statements.
This kind of reminds me of some Afro-centrists and their prof who mouthed off Aristotle stole his ideas on western philosophy from Sub Saharan scrolls the Library Of Alexandria... which was barely in the starting stages of construction when the old boy died.
Michael

Here is the idea of the New Covenant:

I'm about to go answer that question now, but here are some things to consider with the Amalekites:
1. They were NOT good people. Their behavior went beyond the normal drunken orgies, and idolatry. They actually SACRIFICED their children. And I don't mean like in the case of Abraham and Isaac, but they really did it.
2. They were warned repeatedly by God, and by prophets of God, that if they did not change their ways, they would be destroyed.
3. They were given FOUR HUNDRED YEARS to change.
4. Most likely, the women and children would have gotten out before the fighting even started. The Israelites would not have hunted after them.
The concern was not to destroy the Amalekite PEOPLE, as it was to destroy their culture and civilization. Killing all the men, and scattering the women and children, would have done exactly that.
If God was to give orders like that NOW, though, I'd have to wonder. The whole reason that nations like the Amalekites were destroyed is because they refused to live in peace with the Israelites. They kept attacking them. I think in some cases God approves of war, when it comes to upholding peace. Strange how that works. Anyway, the Israelites never attacked innocent people, at least, not on God's orders.
And I don't think any Christian would either.
Keep in mind, though, these were orders given to JEWS, not to Christians. Judaism and Christianity are two separate entities, though Christianity comes from Judaism.

Followers of religion, but not god is a fine example of christianity.
God gets so out of focus on the concept that people who see a bad christian also
start off seeking religion rather than god himself. In the end when he finds god he builds and imaginery fence of logic around
god being the perfect lawyer, being selective in the faith.
Example:
1.Im better than you atmosphere thats made.
2.Delusional decision making in the real world thats more interference by advertising the religion through a concept of subliminally
advertising through actions.
Overly advetised.
3.Strict boundaries make up an actual prison of the mind, so much so god is often left out of the equation when hes trying to get a point across.
We approach god with our issues sometimes like lawyers rather than people,
developed by overly critical theology by
logic rather than a spiritual perspective.
4.Accepting themselves as god when good things happen, but pointing upwards when bad things happen.
5.Christianity has many holes in it.
So many that one may be disturbed through a life time by focusing on what one did rather than knowing the cross.
Produces a lot of sensless guilt.
Good sound doctrine has no holes.
Good theology is totally from a spiritual
perspective not from personal hang ups.
We need a new religion called sinneranity,
where none of us are hypocrites, and all
put god first in everything we do in giving him the throne and showing him by the way we treat others.

No! Not at all. This is just one more reason why the mythology of Christianity is flawed and pathetic.
The reason why Christianity should be opposed and is evil is because the belief is a god is irrational. The belief in the Christian god, with all the evidence opposing such a belief is irrational. The belief that Jesus was the son of god is irrational. To believe in the irrational is absurd! And as Voltaire said, "Those who can make you believe in absurdities can make you commit atrocities." And I personally believe there have been enough Christian (and other religious groups) sponsored atrocities throughout history. Don’t you?
I hope this helps.

God's revelation of His character is progressive. God is holy- separate from sin. The Amalekites were great sinners in the eyes of the Lord. God ordered the complete destruction of the Amalekites. This is a picture of eternal hell for the unbeliever today. If this is really so shocking to you, you should immediately repent of your sins and embrace the Savior. "Shall the clay say to the potter, "Why have you made me thus?"

Killing is not "on the surface" wrong. Murder is wrong, according to the 10 Commandments.
We are creations of God and are not given the authority to judge others; rather we are to love them. Does this mean those that believe in God should never kill? Have we twisted what we think of right and wrong to what we think is right or wrong, or are we consistent with God. Is it right that we should never kill?
Or, is their a time when killing is appropriate?
If killing is ALWAYS wrong,
1) how do you reconcile the Israelites defeating many enemies on their way to the Promised Land in Canaan -- WITH the Lord's help?
2) how do you reconcile the sacrificing of animals for the atonement of man's sins?
3) how do you reconcile God destroying the wicked with the Flood?
4) how do you reconcile God taking Er's life, Judah's firstborn, who was evil in the sight of the Lord?
5) how do you reconcile the destroyer taking the life of all the Egyptian firstborn before Pharaoh let the Israelites go free...as well as the death of all the elite Egyptian army in the Red Sea?
6) how do you reconcile Elijah slaying hundreds of idol worshippers following the Lord's demonstration of fire from heaven?
7) how do you reconcile the murder of the Lord Jesus Christ who lived a sinless life, and died for all the miserable, and disgusting sins that we all have committed?
8) how do you reconcile the unfathomable death to come during the great tribulation and subsequent pouring out of God's wrath on the unbelieving?
9) how do you reconcile the second death - the eternal lake of fire - that awaits all those who do not believe?
None of these killings were/are/will be wrong, nor unrighteouss. Our understanding of what is right and wrong is what is twisted.
I cannot say when killing is appropriate. But I do know, that if God gives you the authority to kill, it will be to God's glory, according to His will.
Personally, I think we all ought to humble ourselves and repent before the Almighty God, and glorify Him by placing our faith in His Son: Jesus Christ. We ought to revere and fear God. And that ought to terrify us, even believers. Like Job - a great man who feared God and stayed away from evil - said, the calamity of God is a terror to me.
Let us not forget God's words in Deut. 32:39, "See now that I, I am He, and there is no god besides Me; It is I who put to death and give life. I have wounded and it is I who heal, and there is no one who can deliver from My hand."

you ought to recheck your "info" "certainty" a million: Husbands are allowed to beat their different halves. Aisha stated that her epidermis became greener than her outfits. instead of chastising the husband for beating his spouse, Muhammad tells the spouse to flow have intercourse together with her husband! "certainty" 2: The penalty for apostasy is dying. How is that no longer forcing something on somebody?? "certainty" 3: Muhammad mentioned that in case you stumble on somebody behaving because of the fact the persons of Lot (ie, homosexuality), to kill that individual and the different individual additionally. Quote: "Islam would not motivate pointless or unrighteous violence in any respect" Then why does the Quran say to "kill them anyplace you stumble on them"? Why no longer take captives instead of killing them anyplace you stumble on them??? I ask which you're taking a glance at any score of international locations by way of women human beings's rights, or by way of human rights, and observe the international locations crowding out the backside of the checklist. EDIT: Quote: "in certainty what i'm attempting to declare is, how are you able to convey mutually adequate information to make a effortless judgement of Islam while you're only in certainty gazing what third worldwide society is like?" i did no longer. God ordered the Amelekites to death because they practiced:
-Child sacrifice
-Incest and beastiality
-Cult prostitution of children
God knew what He was doing (as always)
As far as Hitler, he's yours to deal with. He was a student of Alistar Crowley and loved by catholics (who are not Christians no matter what they say).
