I have 2 cats and 1 of them does this, he's much better know and probably spends the majority of his time inside now. Your cat is still yours he's just adventorous. Be careful though- cats are very hard to keep inside but if oyu really care about them keep them inside! Having your cat be eaten by a coyote would be horrible- this has happened to me before a couple of times. If you really care about this cat I would reccomend keeping him inside. If your cat would be truly miserable being an inside cat here are some resorts:

1. Make feeding time a schedule feed him inside everyday at a certain time( whatever works for you is good 6:00pm is always a good time) - this way your cat knows when to come inside, if he eats inside then you can keep him in your house for the night and let him out the next morning

2. Close of your backyard with mesh netting- this normally only works for cats who haven't had an outside experience before. Most likely your cat will proabably be able to escape but it's worth a try!

3. Buy your cat a halter and leash-Keep your cat inside but when you have time take your cat outside when the time is best for you-i have one cat who isn't an outside cat but she learned how to walk on a halter and leash that we bought from a local pet store, it will take a while for him to learn but I have had more than a couple cats die from being eaten by a coyote or hit by a car, and if you love your cat enough it will be worth it

I wish you the best of luck!
PS: The feeding trick will probably work the best and use the most convinent time for you!!!

He is not your cat, then. Don't let him wander like this if you care about him. There was a cat like this in my neighbourhood, and i though he had things under control, but he got lost. I am sure sth. bad happened to him.
Make sure he is neutered, at least. If he is not, he will not only get lost, but also get into fights and sexually transmittable diseases and he will get sick.
