There are many problems with the salvation-by works doctrine of reincarnation. First, there are many practical problems. For example:
1. We must ask, why does one get punished for something he or she cannot remember having done in a previous life?
2. If the purpose of karma is to rid humanity of its selfish desires, then why hasn't there been a noticeable improvement in human nature after all the millennia of reincarnations?
3. If reincarnation and the law of karma are so beneficial on a practical level, then how do advocates of this doctrine explain the immense and ever-worsening social and economic problems - including widespread poverty, starvation, disease, and horrible suffering - in India, where reincarnation has been systematically taught through out its history?
There are also many biblical problems with believing in reincarnation. For example, in 2 Corinthians 5:8 the apostle Paul states, "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." At death, the, the Christian immediately goes into the presence of the Lord, not into another body. In keeping with this. Luke 16:19-31 tells us that unbelievers at death go to a place of suffering, not into another body.
Further, Hebrews 9:27 assures us that "man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment." Each human being LIVES ONCE as a mortal on earth, DIES ONCE, and then FACES JUDGMENT. He does not have a second chance by reincarnating into another body.

Hello,
There have been a few documentaries on Discovery Channel over the last few years where kids in India through to Druse Muslims in Lebanon were put to the test when they claimed to know their past lives and families but there were some anomalies that still cast a shadow of doubt into these situations; in short things did not add up.

Assuming that the soul exists outside the body, and after the body dies, and assuming Christianity is false. That Christ never was the Son of God and never Died for you and brought about the resurrection, and paid for your sins once and for all. And, assuming there is no heaven or hell. And assuming that there is no resurrection and the body has no function in eternity. And assuming that you can save yourself by going back again and again and assuming other lives and personalities with no memory of your former lives, and in that state somehow you can satisfy Karma by coming back and making it right. And assuming that bliss is having no ego and no memories of self and going to join with the universe is your nervana. Then, if we assume all this, the assumption is, that maybe reicarnation is possible.
How does that sound? pretty appealing to a Christian? I think not.

television and action picture sci-fi is many times fi, and little or no if any sci. there in basic terms isn't an company or a Battlestar Galactica. i admire the assumption of interestellar ramjets like Larry Niven regularly wrote approximately in his sci fi books, however. which would be a certainty some day, regardless of the undeniable fact that that's going to nevertheless take years to flow from one star to a various.

I saw a very compelling documentary on it just last night. But the skeptics blamed the memories of past lives on "false memories" created by early impressions made by experiences or shows watched in early childhood. I doubt it could really happen.

Like most religious concepts, this is not something that can be proven with current science.
The theory of past lives suggests it might be...but can we be sure these people actually experienced it, or are their minds producing things from imagination.

Can anyone really answer this, and could you believe them, if they did? Reincarnation is just another comforting myth that men developed to escape their fear of death; just like all religions made up by and for frightened people.
