It is YOUR home and they are in your territory. It is absolutely okay for you to request that your guests remove their shoes. A lot of people do not like others wearing shoes in the house, as it makes the floors very dirty. I'm sure your guest will be more than understanding. What you could do is mention that they might want to bring socks if they do not like going barefoot, but if they are in sandals, I'm sure they won't mind at all.
I hope you have a VERY fun party!

It is your house, so you have the right to ask your guests to remove their shoes. However, most people find it offensive, especially people who are self-conscious about their feet or their socks!
You really should just suck it up-- ask them to wipe their feet before they come in and then deal with any mess later. Your carpet is more likely to get ruined by spilled wine than by someone's shoes.

If you are having a party, you are assuming the task of cleaning up afterwards. Sure you can ask people to take their shoes off, but people will be put off by it. If that is your goal by having a party then have at it. If your goal is for people to go to a party and have fun, then put a rug out and I'm sure people will wipe their shoes as they walk in.

I'm asian and most of the time it is mandatory for somebody to take their shoes off when visiting another house. Whenever American families come visit, they always have their shoes on in our house(not that its bad) but its just the difference in culture. When they see our shoe rack they ask if they need to take their shoes off and we say if they could. And they're cool with that. Just ask politely and I'm sure they won't mind. After all, it is your house.

My mom always asks guest to remove their shoes at her house. Consequently, she has very clean floors. If you do have guests remove their shoes, make sure they have somewhere to put them, and are able to retrieve them without digging under everyone else's.

Owwww I HATE THAT!!!
However~~~ you do what you like. I always comply BUT
I would only go to one of your parties if I had to remove my shoes. I'm 4'11 and I need my shoes!! I don't go barefoot in my own home.

yes, but be prepared for some people to say no! maybe provide an outdoor shoe caddy if you will be asking them to remove their shoes. otherwise suck it up for one night and allow ur guests to wear them.

Of course!
My family has always practiced this, and I'm barefoot now, in fact. It's becoming a lot more popular these days.
