Well, it depends.
Is the couple dating, have known each other for awhile, and are taking their relationship to the next step? If so, no.
Is it some sleazy guy at school or at a bar? Yes.
Could you provide us with more details because your question is very vague. Generally though, the question is probably used a lot more in situations where the guy is being a sleaze.

Ashley, Personally I believe the individual lacks the ability to display a meaningful and appreciative level of tact. The question is raising the direct intent of the proponent and should be considered as inappropriate regardless of the circumstances surrounding the enquiry. I believe you would have answered the question, thus negating the need for the question in the first place, had you deemed it either relevant or appropriate in the circumstances.

I would find such a question to be totally inappropriate. I would suggest that if ever you are asked you simply give him a look of total disdain and immediately change the subject. He will very quickly get the message and learn to respect you even more. If he insists, simply tell him point blank that you find him to be not in agreeance with the company you normally keep and would he please not again bring up the matter as you find his question to be in extremely poor taste.

If he screams it across a room yes...but if the two of you are entering into a more intimate setting and have already kissed and gotten close I do not consider it rude. He has a right to know about your sexual past if you're considering a sexual future.

I think the answer stems from way too much "taboo" in our society. If you are, you should be proud of it, if not, it wasn't an accident you're not. Granted, there are appropriate times, and ways to do so.

Well it's give and take. These day with all the diseases around, it's suggested that you find out about your potential lovers sexual past. However, if you don't see him in that light, then it's definitely none of his biswax.

I would find that rude. They aren't offering up their sexual history, are they?
