R&S regulars who know me, I wonder what you think I should pursue for my graduate degree(s)? I'm looking for honest answers based on what you know (or have imagined) about me through my participation here. I'm still an under grad and I've had many majors/minors; I'm interested in a lot of stuff.
I'm going to ask this question again either later today or later this week, and I'll tell you all the majors/minors I've flirted with. But I'm look for more a word association type deal right now.
As well as your serious answers, I look forward to your sarcastic, and even intentionally mean spirited answers - what fun would R&S be with out it.
And for my former contacts a favor: I rarely ask, but can you star this question, as I don't have a contact list yet.
And to make this religious, feel free to ask your deity, etc for divine inspiration.

Confirmed Atheist. Thanks for the compliment. And I will pursue what makes me happiest.
The problem is that I have too many interests. And for grad school, focuses need to be narrowed down.

Rachel: are we still Yahoo engaged? Or does my account deletion nullify our hasty actions of Friday last?

Abnormal Psychopathology.
Jesus would most assuredly approve, given that most who believe in him are case studies for proposed major.

Go for a religious-based major, such as theology or comparative religions or maybe literature. My former supervisor from work wrote about Mark Twain and Charles Dickens for his doctorate theses.

If you want to make a lot of money and help people, go into medicine. You could be an anesthesiologist.
If money isn't that important you could be a teacher. Public schools are in dire need of good teachers. You could major in world history.
If you're a trust fund kiddo you could major in psychology; it would help to already have money to fund different research projects.

You should study linguistics and languages. Yeah, I know, that's what my degree is in but seriously I don't push it on everyone. It just seems like something you'd like. I'm thinking of getting my masters in the linguistic history of the English language. My undergrad is in ancient languages so it would be along the same vein, but at the same time very different.
I'm not in a clever/creative/ insulting/sarcastic mood so that's all you get.

I think if you want to work in academia, go with social theory or something like that. I think you have the sort of mind that can see the whole forest, so to speak.
Otherwise, maybe mathematics since your intellect is likely fond of beauty and logic.
Just my $0.02.
EDIT (And if you have never read Image, Music, Text by Roland Barthes, I think you would really find it interesting. And that's not a recommendation I make often.)

I think you should choose what ever interests you most, with the most potential for sustained success and happiness. James, you're an intelligent man, and I think it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. You're going to be a sucess at whatever you choose, so it's in your best interest to choose something you can do happily for the most profit.

Why not some type of professor? You can present arguments and media pretty well. Why not teach young people critical thinking skills?
I see UFO® Crocoalien has the same idea.

Well, since your spelling and grammar are good, I'd say journalism or English, something to do with writing. With a minor in religious studies or philosophy.
The FSM would agree. Ramen.

although i don't know what your undergrad work is in, i would think you would enjoy either a history or theology grad. program. you write well - you have the gift of logic - and you are astute. i think you could probably have your pick of programs.
i am looking forward to your choices. it will be great to see what you do next!
