I consider myself an athiest, although I guess I should say I'm spiritual. Though I don't believe in the Christian God, I do believe in some sort of higher power and in reincarnation.
What do you believe happens to you when you die? NonChristians only, please?

I believe we are creative beings, and what happens when we die is what we think will happen.
I highly recommend reading "Johnny and the Dead" by Terry Pratchett. Mr. Pratchett seems to be of the same opinion as me.

I'd like to believe in reincarnation. It sounds really cool--but I just can't convince myself.
I believe that when I die, that's it. Like the rest of the organisms on this planet, my body will decay and my "soul", if you will, will cease to exist. It's like going to sleep when you don't have any dreams.
If you do believe in a higher power, however, you are not an atheist. Atheists believe in NO higher power of any sort whatsoever. You'd be considered a theist or a deist.
(Agnostic means you aren't sure whether or not there is a god).

My brain will give me one last spectacular lightshow (I'm kinda looking forward to that part) and then my personality will disintegrate and wink out of existence as the machinery grinds to a halt. My body will decompose, and eventually 'my' atoms will end up smeared across the universe with everything else. Your great-great- (etc) -great-grandchild will have a little hypnopope in him, as will one or more of the stars shining down on him. Surprise!

if you believe in a higher power you arent really an atheist. but any who, when i die i do just that. die. nothing more nothing less. what people do with my body afterwards is their business.
