Don't drink too much at the wedding. Have someone sprinkle rose petals around the room. Maybe have a gift basket of snacks and champage for after the reception in the room.

You are both going to be so tired and she is just going to want to spend time with you.

You do not have to wait to give it to her on the wedding night. Get her a massage a couple days before the wedding. Great stress reliever. Work with her bridesmaids and make it a surprise.

Wedding night gift? A bottle of nice wine, strawberries dipped in chocolate, candles, romantic music and if she doesn't already have one picked out for the night, a beautiful nighty.

Your first wedding night? As opposed to your second or third?

Kidding aside, the most important part is the handwritten note that you are going to write her, telling her how this is the best day of your life, and that you are psyched that you will be spending the rest of your life with her. I promise you -- she will keep this note forever.

For a gift (if you think one is necessary) I would like something practical - maybe a watch that is fancier than one I'd buy for myself.

It is tradition to buy your new wife something to give her on your wedding night, kind of symbolizing your first anniversary together.
Your gift doesn't have to be something really amazing, but I hear of a lot of people giving a nice necklace or some earrings, or a tennis bracelet.
Just cater to something you know she wants. It could be a new ipod if that's something she's been wanting for a while.
Jewelry is just a good option, and it's easy to find something nice without breaking the bank.
