First off you don't open something that is addressed to someone else - Federal offense! Second - you take it to the neighbors house and give it to them.

Do you really want to know..? if you do, then did your husband use his credit card, do you think at the hotel ? if you think so, then you could ring the hotel, and say that you stayed there with MR.? on the ?date... and you think you've dropped one of your earrings in the room, but can't remember the room number, however it was a double room booked on the ? date.. If the answer is they will look, and phone you back.. you have your answer, as only your husband could use his credit card, not his friend..whilst at the hotel, but hang up, and use the number that restricts anyone from tracing the call ( I think its 1470, but not sure) , you will have to wait for your bank statements to find out your expenditure, around this time before you can do this. But this is not a decision to take lightly, it could mean the end of your marriage, and if he is being honest, well, it would be a total breakup of any trust between you. Think hard before you make this call... or if you can't ask a friend to do it for you.. or don't do it at all, and watch and wait to see if anything happens again.. it will soon if he is being unfaithful. I do hope you find out that all this is legit, and you both can work this out. a friend x

It depends on how well I know the neighbor. If I felt like it was something that the neighbor needed, like a loan from someone, or payment from a job they had done, then I would take it to my neighbor and let them know that it had been dropped off at my house by mistake. However, if I didn't know the neighbor at all or if I felt the money might be gained by some illigitimate means, I would anonymously drop it by the post office and act as though I didn't know where it was from or who it was going to, and let them sort things out.

You simply should hand it over to your neighbour. I would be a bit curious as to why that amount of money is placed freely like that in an evelope.
I don't think it came throught the mail, it would never make it to your neighbour. It's quite illegal to send money through the post.
Let's hope it's nothing shady.

Since it has my neighbor's address on it, I bring it to them. I never know that it had $1000 in it, because I didn't open it to find out.
What do I care about what is inside someone else's mail?

Well, first, I'd be wondering what my neighbor is involved with that brings people unfamiliar with his house around to deliver open envelopes stuffed with money. After all, that's not normal. Given that, I'd probably want to keep my involvement to a minimum.
If I knew the neighbor well, I'd mention to them that I got something delivered with their name on it, and give to them to sort out. If not, I'd probably just sit on it for a few days to see if anyone shows up to check up on it, and if not, keep the money.

Slip it under my neighbor's door. Either he really needs the money, or it's from an illicit source and I'd invite more trouble than it's worth (who would send cash through the mail?).

Give it to them. You don't know what the money is for or how much they need it. It's wrong to steal, plain and simple. But it would be stupid of the sender to send cash and not a check or money order.
