I haven't talked to my ex for about 5 days and I am debating on whether to send him a message telling him I want to be with him and maybe we could start over and take things slow. Last I heard, he doesn't want to be with me because I caused him so much grief although he still loves me. I don't know if he will consider my message or just blow it off. I also don't want to seem pushy.

Three things.
1. Why did you two split? He is likely your EX for a reason. If that reason is not resolved, you are wasting your time.
2. There is only one way to find out if he is interested or not. Ask him. If he blows you off, then you know where you stand. Otherwise, perhaps you two can talk and see if you can work things out. But remember my #1!
3. 5 days is not pushy. If you guys can't get back together in less than a week, then it isn't happening. Honestly, if he hasn't called YOU at this point, you're probably best off letting the guy go and moving on with your life.

Do what you feel but don't get your hopes up to high towards what he may do or say.
