Why not have your daughter wear a light or dark green, like stems and leaves of your sunflowers? Sunflowers will look fine against most shades of natural green....
Or, a cream or very light gold color will be fine. Just because you want the dress to be yellow, it doesn't have to be Crayola yellow...go with a very flattering pastel yellow, and still fit your theme.
Black will be extremely harsh on your daughter, especially since you are wearing white. It will also may look odd in your pictures. Go with color...this is a happy day!
Good luck dear!

Sunflowers are my flower of choice as well and my Maid of Honour is wearing a black dress. It's an empire waisted dress that she bought at Le Chateau. It's got a white ribbon that ties up at the empire waist, so we're replacing it with a golden yellow ribbon.
I think that black dresses are classier than most other colours and if you can find a formal black dress from a regular store (like Tristan & America or Banana Republic) she can wear it again. I'd suggest going with a length that meets her knees, just so she's not washed out in head-to-toe black.
I hope you are having bouquets made, rather than just holding a single sunflower. A single sunflower is quite informal, so if your wedding is a formal affair, consider bouquets.

You can have her wear almost any color actually. Sunflowers look great against royal blue, red, pink or even pastel colors. I don't know how old your daughter is but I don't like putting young kids in black dresses. Since she is the only one, have her pick a dress in the color she likes. The sunflowers will go with anything.

Black is not my favorite color but if you want that sunflower theme, then I would get a strapless black or a halter dress with a yellow sash to break up the black.

wedding ceremony shade concern Brown&Yellow (Sunflowers) or Black/White/Lavender? I even have been making plans my wedding ceremony to be held October 2009 for some month now.I however i grew to become into set on my colors/topic and had various concepts i grew to become into going to apply sunflowers with a chocolate and yellow united states rustic topic. I even have even planted my own sunflowers to make sure what sort i might prefer to apply. i grew to become into going to apply terra cotta pots tied with some hemp and a bow and personalised sunflower seed packets as favors Now my feiance (who has desperate he dosen't prefer to grant lots enter) has instructed me that he thinks lavender is the suitable for a marriage shade, and that i might prefer to comprise his concepts into the marriage, of course. So now I could make a determination, the origional borwn/yellow or the hot theory of black/white/lavender (which could be extra state-of-the-paintings and present day than the country/rustic theory.) does all human beings have some pictures/concepts/evaluations for the two to help in this determination???

There are a thousand different shades of yellow. But another color to consider is green. The leaves are green. Her dress also does not have to be one color. Maybe the top is white and the bottom is yellow or even black.

All these people knock black...are they crazy? Black is ALWAYS appropriate, super classy and a GREAT choice. It would go great with the guys and really make you stand out in pics. Not to mention, you can always get more use out of a little black dress. My bridesmaids dresses were black (with white polka dots on them) and my pics look fantastic. Go for it!

It is your wedding and things should be how you want them.If there is a black dress you like for her,go for it but you could have her wear white too. Some people think only the bride should be in white but I have seen photos of weddings with all the girls in the wedding in white and it looked really good.

How about a black tea-length dress with a yellow or white belt/sash? Black is perfectly fine for a wedding! It will show your white dress off even better than another color! And I think it will look smashing against the flowers.
