To be honest with you, meditate on the thought of god. Clear your mind of everything but god, thinking only of god's goodness and unconditional love. Let that wash over you and go through ever fiber of your being, allowing yourself to experience god without the attachments placed by other people and their ideas of god. Find god for yourself. God is much more loving than than some would have you believe.

I must say, i'm verry happy to hear that you want to restore your faith and the best way to do that is to pray. Pray to God and take some time to read through some Bible passages. Hebrews 11 is a good chapter and the Psalms could help as well. As for chruch, there's really no alternative, but going to Bible study groups and doing devotionals could help to get you through this until your ready for church. When you are ready there are many churches that aren't so traditional and there are those that are; you just have to find what's best for you.
I hope this helps and I will pray for you.

try reading His word - the BIBLE. This is a great place to reconnect with God. As for church you should try to find a place that teaches, preaches and proclaims His word. If you start reading and meditating in the Bible then He will direct you to a church where you need to be.
Hebrews 10:25 states: "You should not stay away from church services as some are doing but you should go and encourage one another. Even more so now as the time approaches." - New Century Version

Honestly, sometimes church is the last place to restore your faith. How about getting online to http://www.biblegateway.com/ and looking up some Bible passages about faith. Then, maybe read some stuff from people who have faith but aren't afraid to openly question the way church has been done over the years. I have a few sites for you.

And I know it's cheesy and traditional, but I like these guys, too, for common sense lifestyle ideas:

Finally, find a good church. I know that sounds annoying, but eventually, once you know you want God, you'll need a support system, and right now, church is it. I find that getting busy helping out right away and keeping busy for God is great for me. Staying out of arguments and avoiding giving any negative opinions has kept me really sheltered, maybe, but also very happy in church. Try it out. I know I like it. For specifics, just ask me privately.

Part of your problem is that you don't like church, where are you going to go for spiritual growth? But not just any church a good Bible believing, God fearing, soul winning church. I happen to of the Independent Fundamental Baptist variety. You also need to find a good Bible to read. I happen to go with the King James Version. You need to surround yourself with the regular church members of above mentioned church. Because their is no other alternative. Jesus did not make a backdoor into Heaven. Lot of people would like to pretend He did, but He did not. God bless.

Pour your heart out to God. Read the New Testament and Psalms. If you have Christian friends, ask them to pray for you. I know a lot of churches are crummy, but pray that God will guide you to a good one. You need the fellowship and support of other Christians. I'll pray for you. 1 John 1:9

Reading a book such as Mahesh Chavda's
"Only love can make a miracle" can help jumpstart faith in Jesus if its got stopped on the roadside.
The title sounds uninteresting but includes so many things from his early life:
- direct revelation from God; appearance of Christ to him when in Kenya as a young teen.
- experiencing some of the anti-black racism and religious christianity in some areas of American South and being put off for a while
- healing a desperately ill lad in a mental asylum (it was a demonic issue)
- meeting his wife
- mention of some of the miracles he has done (or Christ has done since he believed, is more accurate)

Best way is to do things between you and God and you do not need to be in a church to do this either. You have to speek the truth from your heart and ask for forgivness for how you have been living and regive your self in a way back to the Lord so he can use you and work in your life. Spending time talking to God in prayer is the best way. It is very easy just pray, you one on one with your maker is all that is needed and tell him what is on your heart. Hope it goes well. God bless. oh after you make things right than church will fall in to place and you will have to take your time to find the right one that believes the truth and teaches it.

Each person's faith is his personal experience, a mental experience. SO do whatever pleases you most.
Call God by a name which you like to call, like Oh ! the creator of Universe, the maintainer, All merciful, Kind..! etc .. with adjectives.. ! You will feel a relief within, when you dont try to manifest God knowing fully well that, that is your imagination or somebody's imagination. God is omnipresent, having lots n lots of brilliant qualities. call him by the quality that is needed at that time...

Find a quiet time alone and pray. Ask God to forgive you and to guide you daily. Try 5 min in the morning as soon as you get up; progress to 10-15 min. Your life will change for the better.
P.S. I also don't understand why people answer these questions just to mock and make jokes. In my opinion, they are ignorant and bored and like to stir up chaos and confusion.
