Me and my bf have been together for 5 months now, and I really want him to meet my family and visa versa. I'd really like him to be part of my whole life, not just half of it, so it's important to me. He doesn't want to come, even though my mum sent him an official invitation. I know its because he is afraid he'll be rejected, as he is like 15 years older and from a different culture, but my family is really open and they've known his age/background from the beginning. How do I convince him it will be fine and also of how important it is to share this part of my life with him?

Tell him that you love him and that your family is very excited about meeting him. Tell him they know he's older and that the relationship is multicultural and that they accept him as he is. Tell him that if something goes wrong and he doesn't feel welcome after a bit, you'll leave. This doesn't mean he just wants to go. There has to be a reason.

He got an invitation--he's obligated to go. Tell him it's time to Man Up and get his butt moving.

Just talk to him, find out why he uncomfortable. L et him know all will be fine, but let him decide. You don't want to do anything that may make him even more uncomfortable. He will come around when he is ready.
