I need the serial code for Service Pack 2, but the thing is that I don't have it! My brother got the CD from Dell and he installed it, but I didn't. So I took it and installed it, turns out I need a serial key. I looked in my brother's computer information, but it only gave me a 20 digit serial code, not a 25 required one. I'm upgrading to Service Pack 2. Please help!

What did you have to start with? If you have a version of XP that's earlier than Service Pack 2, you can download the SP2 update directly from Microsoft, order it from them, or borrow/burn a copy of a friend's SP2 update CD. All you need to install is the SP2 update; you don't need to mess around with the installation disks for the whole XP SP 2 system.

If I have understood you correctly, you need to quit messing with a different set of XP installation disks and instead run the CD that contains the SP2 update **only**. Microsoft actually encourages sharing the update, so if you borrow or copy someone else's SP2 update CD, there isn't any copyright violation or licensing issue.

If I haven't understood you correctly, please add more details to your question and tell what you had to start with, and what you're trying to install.

Service Pack 2 does not require a CD-KEY. If you are attempting to install XP-Service Pack 2 from another machine, it isn't going to work. It may install, but it will stop functioning in 30 days.
