I just made an apple cake and want to freeze half of it to have later on. How do I freeze a cake? And how long will it stay good in the freezer? thanks

Wrap it up. Stick it in the freezer. It will be good at least a yr!

Stays good for about 6 months if it is packaged good in the proper container or wrapping. Put it into the freezer, frosted or unfrosted is ok, and let it freeze solid first. That will not harm it but it will allow the frosting to harden so that you do not mess it up. If it is a small cake or cupcakes, then placing them into a gallon freezer bag will work just fine. If it is a larger cake you can find larger storage bags as well, but it they do not say they are for freezer, then tripple them up for the cakes protection. When you put the items in the bag, take some of the extra air out but do not let it cling too tight to the cake or it can mess up the frosting. If you have a cake box, you can put the cake into it first and then wrap the entire box in freezer wrap which is in the grocery section where you find your freezer bags and cling wraps. Use indelible magic marker to put the date and what the item is on the bag or freezer wrap.
