Eastern Long Island. Thinking of living in Hoboken, NJ. Will have a car, but may not use it to get to work. That's my question. I will be making about $15.00/hour. Don't really want to live on Long Island for some reason. Not sure why.
Would consider Brooklyn or Queens. Where should I live? Should I drive to work? Take the Long Island railroad? My shift will be 4:00 pm to 1:00 am. Driving home should not be a problem, but going to work at 4:00 could be a hassle.

Look into apartments in Patchogue. From Hoboken to Holtsville, every day, will drive you crazy. Try Patchogue or Sayville. There are also other areas where you could find an apartment. Usually it's living in someone's basement as an apartment.

Absolutely not...that is so incredibly not worth it. I LIVE on Long Island and $15 an hour to drive to Holtsville wouldn't be enough for me...You're talking a nearly 3 hour commute each way (more with RUSH HOUR traffic)...that's absolutely insane.

I would consider Long Island...I don't know why you got a job there if you weren't planning on living there...otherwise, find a job somewhere else.

No way. By car, at 4PM try a 3 + hour commute, going home more like 1 hour and a half. Queens would be better, but if for $15.00 an hour consider living in Holtsville.

good luck with that, the commute will be murder and you will definately need a car for out there because public transport in that area is horrible and not as common as in the city. I would suggest finding an apt over in holtville near the ecology center or finding something closer to your place in jersey.
