Springfield XD sub-compact .45ACP. It is small, I like the grip safety on the XDs and even though it is a sub-compact it is fits in my hand fully. The Warthawg I have shot in 9mm but it does not feel right in my hand. I would also look at the compact .45 because it is a full 4" barrel with a shorter grip for conceal carry. However one of the mags comes with a rubber boot that extends the grip to a full size service pistol for on duty carry.

When making a decision about a concealed carry handgun you have to weigh several factors and decide which carry the most importance for you. Size - length, height, thickness Weight - total weight with a full clip or cylinder since that is how you'll be carrying it Capacity - number of rounds in the gun, also mechanism for reloads, ie magazine speed loader etc Stopping power - rating of the cartridge with chosen carry configuration: ball, hollow point, etc Personal ergonomics - this one you have to judge for yourself. how does the gun feel when you hold it, shoot it, carry it with you for hours at a time? Reliability - I consider that a given, if it won't fire every time you pull that trigger it's not a defense gun, it's a death trap waiting to bite you. Accuracy - a function of the inherent accuracy of the gun, the usefulness of the sights, and your individual ability to hit in the vital zone at reasonable range My personal always carry is a Kel-Tec P3AT .380acp, but there is usually a 1911 .45 acp not too far away and long arms within reasonable reach as well.

My dad carries ( sometimes ), his Kimber Ultra Carry II in .45 Auto. It is one of the smallest 1911's in the world. Why I pick this? Because it is small, compact, and perfect for concealed carry. Plus, you can not beat the .45's stopping power. Good luck.

I've had a Colt Stainlless Officers' ACP, with a 3.5" barrel for almost 20 years.

It fits nicely in a coat pocket, fanny pack, or belt holster and is easy to conceal.

For years, I've threatened to have the barrel and slide fitted to a Lightweight Commander frame. With a six-shot magazine capacity, the grip length leaves my pinkie dangling, and I believe that an Officers' ACP topside and a Commander receiver would be a perfect match-up.

The only other compact .45 ACP I've seen that I liked better than my Officers' ACP is the long discontinued Star PD, but it was never available in stainless steel.

The Para-ord Warthawg models are small and they pack a big punch.10+1 in 45, recoil is manageable and they are very concealable. I also own the 9MM variant, 12+1 they are great guns.Quality is exceptional, fit and finish are great. Check out paraord.com.

Glock 36. I went through all of the subcompact 45's and felt that the Glock did everything better than my runner up - the Para Ordinance Wart Hog or whatever its called.

i think the para warthog is a good choice.
you can even get in 9mm for a higher round count.
but if I had to pick, i would probally get a glock 26 or 27.
now don't go apepoopoo on me I have several 1911's but if i had to coceal carry without having to worry about anything, it would be a glock.

Personally I'd go for a glock 30. because it packs10+1; However if concealment is of the highest priority, the slimline glock 36 (6+1) will be my choice.
