Guy's like steak. Get a nice piece of beef tenderloin. Broil it for about 4 minutes on a side or till whenever it is done enough for you. Serve with potatoes, broccoli, or whatever else, and there you go. If you guys are old enough, serve with wine.
Easy to make and tasty.

Make a pot meal that you throw in the oven. You can use the cheeper cut roast for it and they will be very tender. Here's what I do. I start with a Chuck or Chuck blade Roast that is flat looking and about 1 1/2 inches thick. You do not have to even brown it if you do not prefer to. Use a deep dish roasting pan with a lid or any deep oven proof pan and tinfoil for the lid. A 2 to 3 pound roast will take about 90 minutes or so to cook at 400 degrees. Spray the dish with cooking spray or lightly greece it with crisco or butter. Place meat into pan (if you desire to brown the meat on both sides do it first in a fry pan. Sprinkle pepper, garlic powder and parsley onto the meat. Do not add salt since it will pull the juices from the meat and make it dry. Cut into wedges 1 medium sized onion and put it into the pot around the meat. Scrub 2 large or 4 medium potatioes clean and place them in the pot along the sides of the meat and then place fresh long carrots cleaned with tips cut off and cut in half width wise on top of the meat. If you do not like carrots, you can do any other veggie like fresh long stemmed green beens washed and snipped or fresh broccoli spears. Place the veggies on top of the meat. Pour water into the pot over all the items until it reaches a depth of 1/2 inch in the pot's bottom. Cover with lid and bake. After an hour, check on it and braise the top of the items in the pot with the juices in the pot. Cover and continue to cook until potatoes are tender and/or meat is as tender as you wish it to be. We like ours well done so it takes. Allow a full 2 hours for the roast so that it will have enough time to get all done since some ovens varry. If you bake your cake now, you can pull it out to cool in plenty of time to put the roast in and still get your dinner all together.
NO BEEF. You can substitute it with a pork roast or chicken breast roast.
Have your dinner on the living room floor on a tablecloth if you have one and in front of the fireplace if you have one too. Much more romantic. You actually open the cloth all the way up and sit on it together. Light candle around the room and eat by candle light or dim the room for atmosphere by using low beam on your lights. Play soft music instead of tv watching. Guys like that.

Simple and cheap. A nice Italian rigatoni dinner. You can buy some nice garlic bread with it. With a side salad you got yourself a nice birthday meal. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the rigatoni before eating. Cake for dessert sounds good.
