I have been a fan of female bodybuilding and they are tested rigorously if they want to compete. Some of the female bodybuilders who weigh over 160lbs. can bench 300. I don't know what the average guy's bench is though.

Absolutely. A lot of the strength that you get from starting weight training comes from increasing your neurological capability to force your muscles to contract to their full strength.

This is why, when an individual begins weight training, they will see fast increases in their strength after just a couple of weeks, even if they have little muscle development.

By simply learning to maximise the contractive strength of the tissue you have, you can lift far heavier weights.

So, if you compare a sedentary man to a woman who lifts weights, the woman will almost definitely be stronger, even if her muscles are only the same size as the man's.

Furthermore, professional body-building women will have muscles that far exceed the size of an average man who does not body build.

It depends on the test. Women generally are weaker because of their skeletal differences. It is their shoulders that restrict the distance they can throw for example, rather than any difference in muscle bulk.
