My cholesterol is high also. My doctor encouraged me to eat foods with fiber. For breakfast, I eat the whole grain breads and or cereals and for lunch I try to include a fiber veggie such as broccoli or beans and for dinner I always try to include a salad. I have read exercise is also very important in helping to lower cholesterol levels. Just 30 minutes a day is helpful.

Supposedly oats help to lower cholestrol, but their effect is minimal. More importantly for lowering cholestrol is what you DON'T eat--fried foods, oils, fatty meats. Also, if your problem is bad enough, you may want to talk to your doctor about going on a medication such as Lipitor.

Foods that are high in dietary fiber, like whole grain breads and cereals. You should also eat low fat foods like apple's, berries, lean poultry like chicken and turkey. Fish is good too, it has Omega 3 fatty acids that are good for your heart. White fish like haddock and cod have less fat then salmon but salmon has more Omega 3's.

-Olive oil (use it in place of butter, margarine, and canola oil)
-Avocado (this amazing fruit drastically lowered my mother's cholesterol)
-Peanut butter (use in place of butter on toast)
-Nuts
-Lots of fruits and vegetables
Remember to limit your meat and dairy consumption! And watch out for cholesterol-containing foods like cake and cookies.

oats! try having oatmeal every morning! the oats 'sucks' all the bad cholesterol from your heart.
isn't that what quaker oats is advertising. i think they even challenged people with their oatmeal diet plan.
then of course, cut down of the fats and sugars, and carbs.
try wheat bread instead of white
brown rice instead of white
more greens and fruits in your diet and less of the processed ones
