Clear if you're drinking it, blue if you're swimming in it, green if you leave it sitting and brown after a long rain.
Oh, yeah. Yellow after the snow melted where you wrote your name. (Couldn't resist!)

water is transparent, and it looks tranparent in small quantities, such as in a cup. But in large quantities, as in a deep pool or the sea, it seems blue for some reason ... but that might be partly because of the sky

according to water's property its transparent in colour!
but
sometimes the question rises that its blue
but no, its not blue
water sometimes appear to blue
because of spectrum(rainbow), rainbow has seven colours out of which blue is the only colour which water cannot absorb
that, in turns, makes water look blue!

Water is clear, but may appear to be the color of whatever object that is reflecting off the water.

The color of water is clear
The reason it gets color is because water (and particles in it) is reflective and large bodies of water are maily covered by sky, not trees... so it reflects the blue of our atmosphere.
It's green when its "dirtier" water reflecting the blue, dark blue at night, and greyish when it's cloudy.
ps- One of the main causes of scattering is due to the reflection of radiation (in this case, light) and it's angle. This is also called diffuse reflection.

Its depends on how you look at it........
If you are at the beach, then it would be sky blue, if the sun set, it would be orange...if you get up close & personal then it would be clear to light brown depending on the cleanliness of the water...
