The suns rays caries all of the visable wavelength of colors that the naked eye can see plus more colors we can't see such as infrared or ultraviolet. So pretty much the sun and its rays are the most colorful objects that exists in our solar system. As a result of the sun being so colorful the variations of visible colors are so vast that they are saturated to a point were our eyes can't distinguish them all and interprets them as "white light" instead. However water droplets in the atmosphere somtimes seperate the mixture of colors from being saturated creating what you call "rainbows". When you see a rainbow you see all the posible colors our eyes can see (colors other then red, green, blue, indigo, and violet are slightly hued in between each wave of the rainbow and can be seen if you look carefully) and your seeing the color of our suns rays.

White, what we see are the portions (wave lengths) of the visible light reflected off the surfaces of the objects we see. The combination of the three primary colors of light makes white.
btw, combination of the primary colors, (Red Green Blue), in pigment makes black.
