I have just started learning the guitar. Cyberfret.com says that once I master four chords I can play thousands of tunes.

Em, C, G, D

Do you know some tunes I can play with those four chords? Do you know a place where I can find easy songs once I learn a few more?

I wont' be able to play again tonight.... my fingers are numb. :)

thanks

If you play the chords in the following order:
G / / / Em / / / C / / / D / / /

You strum the chord once for each letter then once for each of the slash.

Here a few songs you can play:

Heart and Soul
D'yer Maker - Led Zep
At Last
For Your Love
Stay Just A Little Bit Longer
Santa Baby (partially works)

Playing them in this order:

G / / / D / / / Em / / / C / / /

You can play "With or Without You" by U2

The only trouble is that it may not be in your vocal range to sing it. So you have to get your teacher to transpose it to the correct key for you, and tell you which 4 chords would then be best for you to sing along.

For instance, if that's not your key, you might be better off with one of these:

C / / /G / / / Am / / / F / / /
D / / / A / / / Bm / / / G / / /
A / / / E / / / F#m / / / D / / /

Different keys may also work better for different songs.

Good luck.

Swing a dead cat and you'll hit one. Green Day, Nickleback, The Beetles, 80's heavy metal ballats...it goes on and on. If you can play those cords you should train your ear to listen for them. Learn Am, its easy, then practice two and three finger bar cords, then play around with drop D tuning, and you're there. You're a rock guitarist. Easy, huh!?

Thats it for the whole song. Go to Guitarnotes.com

Just about any '50's Rock song can fit into the GCD pattern.

Try www.ultimate-guitar.com. They have thousands of songs that are user-posted. I'm sure you could find plenty of popular songs with those chords.
