In Australia, they are currently having a complete revamp of the laws regarding Aboriginal townships because of the extreme child sex abuse that has been going on. It's not reflection of Aboriginal religion and culture...
Aboriginal culture and religion would have punished severely offenders such as these, if they had the power to do so by law.
The problem is the corruption of the Aboriginees with the things of this world... (ie alcohol addiction, being paid to do nothing, etc) and individuals losing themselves from their original moorings in tribal law.
All humans are prone to corruption and digression from right laws. It occurs in whatever society you are in.
The radio/TV does love to point out when Christians are not living up to their own standards of behaviour. I guess it is all the more sensational, because Christians should be some of the last people on earth to perpetrate such crimes.
EDIT: FC, that is so true!
EDIT: Sexual repression is not the problem. In some African tribes, where children see sexual behaviour between adults, children as young as 3 can be seen acting out sex with each other. There is no sexual repression there. Yet, there are plenty of broken hearts, broken families and innocent people suffering with AIDS. The problem is not sexual repression. The problem is inappropriate sexual knowledge. TV is a major perpetrator in our society. Lack of parental privacy (and education) is a perpetrator in poorer societies.

i agree with eckzl. It's repression. Our most primal animal instincts are sex and violence and to deny that instinct is to deny part of who we are and left alone, those kinds of thoughts/feelings could build up, sometimes to the point of someone becoming a rapist or even a serial killer. Now,that doesn't mean that people should go around fighting or sleeping with everyone, but they should at least aknowledge that that part of them is there. We all have our personal "demons" and you can't just give into them, but if you deny them, they build up until they eventually take control.
So people should just let their "demons" come out and play once in a while. For instance, people, especially Christians (but not necessarily), think that violent movies/music/video games cause kids to become violent or criminals, when,in fact, they could actually prevent it because if all of their aggression and everything goes into their fantasy world/diversion, it may keep it from coming into the real world. So i guess one way society can at least lessen is it is to lift bans on media because if you take away kids' escape, they could find other ways to express themselves that might be much worse. But,really, though, i think the biggest prevention is just to not teach children that their thoughts/feelings are wrong and unnatural and evil, but instead listen to them and find out what they're feeling and why and try to find healthier ways for them to express themselves (I've Poetry to be a good release). Sometimes all kids need is just to talk to someone who understands them is isn't so quick to judge.

Well, let's see, we have MTV and other shows that get away with as much as they can awakening the sexual passions in anyone that tunes in, mostly kids. Then there is the movies, videos, video games, internet porn, you name it, just tons of influences that are accepted and end up creating images that bounce across the mind demanding expression. Without the proper guidance and love in the home (and many parents today are just as scummy as the kids they grow) you can expect the sin to perpetuate itself. Forgot society as a solution. Society tells you that even being gay is normal. It all starts with real and true parents.

Because the vast majority of people in the country are Christian?
It may be a correlation about I doubt it would hold up to a real test of that being a primary indicator.

Because Christianity (and most religion) repress basic human urges, such as sexuality. This in turn causes that basic instinct to manifest itself in strange and perverse ways. This kind of repression also causes other psychological problems.

yes, specially in this generation.because of many reasons it happens.when any girl looks very beautiful, attractive, when she wears beautiful clothes(her body is looking nice,..attractive)that makes a boy to go after it.or when they cant control their self they wanna do it so they dint any body close to them so they start with their sisters.yes we should stop this.mostly this happens because when there is no fear of God.if we 'll fear our God may be we 'll be away from that.& also the movie(blue movie) we should be away from that.

Clearly they were Christian by name only.
Perhaps if their parents taught their children to actually LIVE by Christian values they would do better.

That sounds like a spirit of incest (mentality, culture, demonic spirit), and it is offensive to God. Sounds like that group or society in particular needs deliverance from it.
