... you had to pick a partner to go along with you. Would you pick a Theist or an Atheist? Take some time to think about it and give me your honest answer and why you picked so.

Many of you are not thinking of instances where you would have to put up with you and your opinions, and would have to make sacrifices on your behalf. Dont expect your partner would always help you and stand by you in ur quest for survival.

I would bring an atheist and do my best to show him the Light by year's end.

Depends what the person is like. If s/he was a theist and a decent person, helpful, understanding etc, and the atheist was complete assh*le to me then I'd take the theist. Likewise, if the theist was some sort of fundie or just some girl who prayed to god every 5 minutes I'd have to take the atheist.

Needless to say, it's completely down to the individual.

Whether the person is a theist or atheist wouldn't be among the criteria I would consider most important when making such a choice. I'd weigh the person's survival skills, health, and personality (i.e., whether I thought I could stand the person for long periods of time without other human company) before his or her religious convictions.

I'm an atheist so I would choose an atheist.

I wouldn't be able to stand the theist telling me that everything will be alright, I just need to pray and god will fix everything.

I would rather be fixing things myself, and increasing my chances for survival.

And the conversations would be much better with an atheist, or at least fewer arguments.

I would pick a theist. There's much more to talk about and learn from one another. An atheist would create strife and discord.

For me, it is impossible to be alone in a forest and not think about God and believe in his presence found in everything that is beautiful. An atheist would piss me off by spoiling the "moment".

Well, knowing nothing other than their religions bent, I'd take the Atheist.

I do this because GENERALLY atheists are better educated in science. Science is what's going to allow me to figure out HOW to live in an uninhabited forest, not praying.

Yeah, there are exceptions, but you're not giving us much to go on.

Not up on forrest living though ... which one is tastier when it finally comes down to canibalism? Which one runs slower?

As I am an Atheist, it might be more interesting to bring a theist along for the debate

As an Atheist I would pick a Theist, so I won't feel bad when I kill him and eat him so I can survive.

Doesn't matter really. I'd pick someone with an ounce of brain because our survival would depend on working together as a team.

There is nothing worse than one who has seen God in his glory and turned to his own understanding instead of Gods.

I would choose the atheist for a slew of reasons.
