Hello. Yesterday my family joined a new church, and it is bigger than the one I went to before. So I am not used to it being so big. There are kids my age and some girls about my age too, but I am too shy to talk to them I guess, because I'm afraid they won't like me or something. They aren't all like holy roller type, some of them look like assholes but I am not sure whether I should go to the youth class on sunday morning, or if I should stay up with the adults. My brother just turned 18 and he decided not to go to church, so I am all alone and I feel really weirded out, because all these new people, and I am a pretty shy.

Can anyone give me advice?

Go to the youth service and be yourself! Don't act all cool or snobby. Smile and act nice and you will see they are just like you.
I'm a mom and married now but when I was younger I was attracted to "shy" guys and I married one! They were a challenge to me.

Don't judge a book by its' cover, they might be just as shy as you. Among those people, you might find a good or great friend. Be yourself and give them chance to know, and they to know you. You are not the only shy person there, I am certain of that. Whatever you do at school to meet new friend! do it in that new Church, and you will find what you are looking for, a good friend.
Good Luck.

Give them a chance, and stop pre-judging. Once you get to know them, THEN decide if they are jerks or not. But you are the one who seems rather like a jerk by this statement: "some of them look like assholes". THAT is unkind.
