Why do some American Christians think/believe that America was founded on the basis of becoming a "Christian Nation"?

Do you think that the "Freedom of Religion" extends only to sects of Christianity?

Because that's what they want to think. They pick and choose different comments from the Founding Fathers to justify that "This is a Christian nation." These comments are personal comments, not actual law. They can refer all that they want to the different letters that the FF's wrote, but the fact remains that this was to be a secular government. This government was supposed to be free from religion.

Freedom can also be abused, and not only by Christianity.

Too much freedom leads to confusion and anarchy. Because America has an "I want it now" culture, it would probably lead to that pretty soon. Who knows, we might be another Muslim country in the next few years. Or even have the states break up into separate countries.

Freedom should have set boundaries. As long as the consequences do not impede the positive growth and well-being of a society, it should be fine.

I think it's because they are singlemindedly bigoted and ignorant. The Foundfing Fathers had a more reasonable, more sphisticated religious stance than a lot of people living in the USA today, 220 years after the Constitution.
