what is the next step past 1080p? How can it get any better?

Its called Ultra High Definition, and yes it can get a lot better. UHD is 4 time the resolution of current HD. (7680 x 4320 vs. 1920 x 1080) It won't be practical for a VERY long time due to the bandwidth and amount of data it requires. A 18 minute clip of uncompressed UHD video takes up 3.5 terabytes! and 1 minute of uncompressed UHD is 194 GB or 4 Blu-Ray discs!!

I've heard something about 1440p or something like that. But I don't think it'll be here for a long time.
