The world is changing way too fast and it is scarring a lot of people. They are looking for the "answer" to help them get centered.
1.) Many Catholics - especially Latinos- are changing to Pentacostles more than anything else. Why? Because the woman is the center of the family instead of the iconic pack mule from 500 yrs ago and the husband must be more upstanding and incharge or the religious understanding for the family.
2.) Islam - many busy people that are scared that the world will come to an end if they actually stop doing everything to make everyone else happy and keep it all going are choosing Islam. It is a very peaceful and laid out planned religion. Those who need structure this is good for them. (Do not confuse Extremists or Fanatics Muslims with this religion) It teaches you to stop, breath, and reevaluate your current position in life and then follow a set of instructions to organize your life and feelings.
3.) Wicca - the Pagan religions. These people are the earth, physical health, mental health, ecologically speaking, type of people who do not see change but see it as a continuous life of moments that we adapt to. They see only the good in everything and a way to make bad things into good. They are the optimists in our society of religions and believe they hold a God given natural power to protect our lives, our friends, our emotions, and our enviroment if we will just stop and take care of it.
4.) Buddhism - to be one with in a group. Belief in ancestoral heritage, peace and forgiveness. These are the people who are looking for guidance in a very confused society. They make their way through life finding a common ground that everything is connected. Which it is. This religion is based on individualism within ones self and to pass that on to the next generation. They are the ones who need to learn humility and to give humility to others. To forgive and renew a dieing soul.
5.) Christianity - is the last of the religions that is converting on a slow scale. The true Christian religion is based on all of the knowledge of the 4 above but has become a fanatic type religion and a social status type of religion - ie - if you don't believe in God then you are not one of us. Catholisism is dying as well because you have too many saints and penance to pay to show that you are a devoute Christian. Too much ceremony and too much money is wasted in the name of GOD. Televised and sensationlised - it is loosing it's grip on the true meaning that Jesus - like Sidhartha in Budhism- taught us.
Good luck in your search for your truth. Organized religion is something to worry about but individualized belief in your religion is a very noble cause.

As you know, Khalid, Islam is the fastest growing religion. It is growing so rapidly because in when people honestly look at Islam, it answers many questions in todays life that Christianity and the others cannot answer. There is solid scientific proof that the Quran is divinely inspired, and no other religion can offer that. In this world of hate and greed, Islam offers people peace and harmony, pure Brotherhood (or Sisterhood) that other religions can't. Islam is truly of God, and when people take an honest look at it, it is obvious. In the Americas, Hispanic Catholic women are reverting to Islam by the thousands. Why? I guess coming from a culture that objectifies women and so limits their growth and societal influence, Islam is like a breath of fresh air. Not to mention, many Catholics who know that God expects us to be monotheistic are uncomfortable with the idol worship inherent in Catholicism, and are attracted to true monotheism. But in the end, Islam is the TRUE WAY OF WORSHIP, and when read the Quran, it shines through as the truth, and people recognize that.

Logically, I would think it would be Jehovah's Witnesses since they are required by their leadership to aggressively try to recruit new members. They are required to report the number of hours they spend each month witnessing to others so it is very important to them to spend a lot of their time in activities for which they can "count" their hours. All of this effort should result in a lot of converts. By the way, this is not a "lie" - ask any active JW if he "turns in his time" at the end of the month, and he will verify that he does.
But I'm not sure what the statistics are as far as other religions, whether it is more or less.

Some decades ago, used to be Budhism, the country where this religion exist, ......their population ???? unbelievable.
Now it's swing around. Lots of Western being Atheists and some look for peace in meditation, and some Confusians and Budhist Asian go to the West for economical reason and be Christians , but lately, it seems muslims get stronger caused by the severe attacks to them; so the fellows muslim who used to be just "registrated" muslims, now seriously learn and hold the religion strongly.
I hope Arab's wealth is spent the right way . That's one of the key.

1. The new age type religions and Islam, for opposite reasons:
2. the new age type religions are 'me' based, what ever makes you feel good and has 'me' at the center. Islam, the person feels they need more structure and instruction in their lives.....although some branches of Christianity also provide this, Islam seems more cut and dried in telling you what to do, when to do it, etc. Some people are so afraid of making a decision, this is perfect for them, they don't have to.

I believe Islam was supposedly the fastest growing religion as of 2 years ago. I have no idea why (too hard to get into Judaism, too many in Christianity?)

Urm... because it requires one to actually be devout. Unlike other religions that seem to be trying to get rid of what little is left of their religion.
