any model, Im looking for used cars and heard that a Hyundai is cheap, and a good make

I have about 7500 to put down, if I can get a car for that much with about 50K miles on it, that would be great, although im also prepared for a car payment--ideally around 100/mo if possible

Recent ones were well built and given the emphasis put on needing to service them to maintain the warranty tended to be looked after so they should be fine.

Some of the older ones (which you should have enough money to avoid) had reliability problems due to Hyundai using substandard components and the owners not servicing the cars properly, those problems were fixed though (Hyundai are now one of the most best when it comes to quality).

The new ones are great cars, just under Honda/Toyota/Nissan in my book, putting them way ahead of the domestics (Ford/GM/Chrysler) on resale value alone.

It really depends on how "cheap" we're talking about. The Elantra that came out in the early 2000's is a good car for the money, and the Sonatas of that vintage (the one with the Jag/Mercedes style headlights) are also good cars.

I would personally look into used Accords/Civics and Camry's/Corollas first, though.

What is your budget exactly?

Yes, I own an 01' Elantra and it's been the most dependable car I've driven (I drove a good handful). I think if you can find a newer, low mileage model something after the year 2000 it will be worth it. Anything before that, just like any car, you'll be chancing it.

For that amount of money, you can find a great car for cash. Dont get a car on time if you can help it. Try Craigslist.com for your city. I am sure you will be happier. Good luck
