I have discovered a strange mark on my chest - the best way to describe it is that it looks a bit like a birth mark. It's brown, and is made up of lots of little freckly type marks. It's about 6cm in length and 4cm in height. Any ideas what this could be? Is it anything to worry about?

If its what I think it is, its caused by the sun to some people who are sensitive to the sun. My brother gets these occasionally and hydrocortizone will help fade it or it will fade on its own. Have your doctor check it out to be on the safe side.

yes if it resembles a mole of some sort see the doctor because they can be cancerous, they can be removed so dont be alarmed but just get it looked at by a dermetologist as soon as possible ....dont go to the regular doctor it will be a waste of time go to the dermetologist for the best treatment. i had a 'mysterious ' mole but after my vist with the derm. it turned out just to be a new mole. goodluck with yours.

you should see a doctor about any skin coloring that changes... new spots, new freckles, old freckles changing shapes, etc.
Better safe than sorry.
It is just as likely hyperpigmentation - which is a fancy word for liver spots... they are not just for senior citizens.
I hope it's nothing.

Yes you should see a doctor if any mystery moles appear. It could be a sign of cancer.
