If this country wants future citizens to rule over and tax, then they better had make it a safer place. Who would want to bring children into this gun-ridden, increasingly violent land?

Being an Australian we really on get the worst of the worst in terms of news and what not here. I really do hope it isn't really that way. I know the US has so much to offer to in terms of natural beauty and such a diverse range of people that visiting there would, despite the rest of the worlds popular view, would surely be an amazing place. On the other hand though, and there is always two sides to a story, surely there has to be some truth to what is reported. Of course I'm sure it's exagerated but there has to be some truth and that is such a sad state affairs for the youth to be living that way and for shootings to take place on freeways (as we call them here in Australia). From what I can gather too most people with a heart beat would rather chew glass than have to put up with Bush any longer and even as a far away outsider I can't stand him! lol I have never heard any person utter so much utter rubbish while butchering the English language at the same time. It would be hilarious if it wasn't for the fact that he ran one of the most, if not the most powerful country in the planet. Alrighty then, I've had my winge so I shall move on now. :) lol You know it just occured to me that I might have gotten the wrong country here! lol Just let me know if I've made a complete **** of myself and I shall slink off into obscurity...hehehe lol

Well stop voting for twats & moaning in the kitchens of various friends houses etc & stand up & say something, I did (part of 1990 poll tax movement in London got a 1 month sentence for non payment but am mighty proud of being a part of the changes that ensued) and will do a Tony Martin if i have to because nothing else will help us good citizens from being potential victims of crime in this multi camera BS system that is in place. We're only an island ffs & look at what's happening around us all. Don't blame the US blame our pathetic law system & cotton wool molly coddler liberal do gooders! Turf them out of local government & work our way up from there!

Ok in the 1960s it was the Mods and Rockers...
Now we have Hells Angels, London Road Rats and The Outlaws, I will tell you it happened on the way back from The Bull Dog Bash (a bikers event).
So it was unlikely to be a teenager but some one more like in their 30s or 40s who had the gun....

Chances are that the violence we hear of now is no worse than it was 20, 30, 40, 50 years ago. The fact is that we hear more because the media coverage is far wider.

Yes we hear of gun crime but we are in no way anywhere near the level of that in the USA. This is probably down to the fact that we don't let people run around with guns (legally). Yes there are criminals with guns who think nothing of using them, but it is down to us to do our best to stop them. I'm sure if you studied other countries crime figures, ours would be compare favourably.

I suppose we are all to blame ffor this. My generation knew right from wrong and expected to get our backsides kicked if we did the wrong thing. We, my generation, have let things slide and stopped youngsters being punished, yes punished for wrongdoing. I am sad that I now have t say this but if we are not going to hang muderers ( and I do not agree with the death penalty ) we must make sure that a life term means just that. Llife, no reduction, no parole

Guns in this country kill less people than mistakes made by doctors. This is a true statistic and it kind of puts things into a different perspective, doesn't it?

OBTW...violent crime has DECREASED over the last decade here. You are out of touch.

It seems the Government doen't care - if anything, its policies are there to ensure things get worse.

Fear of an inanimate object is irrational.
Your ultimate safety is in your own hands, not the government.
Why would you take up arms to defend a government that won't allow you to take up arms to defend yourself and your loved ones?
Now that's hypocrisy.

I have to say that, sadly, more motorcyclists in this country are killed by inept drivers by far.
