im kind of christian (hard to explain) and im 100 percent FOR gay marriage and i love homosexual ppl!! however i notice how so many christians use what some ppl call convenient hatred against gay ppl - they use the whole 'well in the bible it says being gay is a sin blah blah blah' ive gone to religious schools my entire life and whenever i bring up the fact that the bible was written in a completely different era and it was written by men which inevitably makes it biased they say that the bible applies to all times. then i say wel what about women being inferior to men, incest, racism, and slavery....all of which are in the bible and justified...and these self righteous christians go 'oh well thats different' ...funny.

what do you think about it?

Like the old song goes: "People walkin' up to ya, singing glory halleluya, then they try to sock it to ya, in the name of the Lord."
They think they know everything and that they are better. But scratch beneath the surface or look into their closets, and you'll find plenty of dirt.

I believe fully what the bible says. I don't hate gay people, but I do hate their sin. If your familiar with the bible then you know in Lev. God spoke against incest, and in the new testament Jesus says you'll be judged on how you judge others which includes racism. As for slavery it was a common thing back then. We had slavery here in the USA not so many years ago. As for women being inferior to men, well that's in the bible. We were made to be a mans help meet, they weren't made for us.

I think the homosexuals get so much publicity because they are the only ones who so flagrantly flaunt their sin. If you have someone with a drinking problem, or are a habitual liar or a thief or some other sin, they generally try to hide it. But not the gay people . And therein lies the problem. You can't shove it in my face and not expect me to respond with my own belief, now can you?

However, let me say I love the person, I simply hate the sin, just like I hate the sin of stealing or cheating or lying or whatever. But all people are worthy of love, if they have a soul.

You are trying to quote a book you clearly haven't read much. First, you are either a Christian or you aren't. There is no "kind of a Christian", there is no middle ground. Next, if you are a Christian you are right to "love homosexual individuals", the Bible calls on us to love all people. Everyone sins, the Bible absolutely does not say women are in any way inferior to men (certain texts refer to specific women, ie... prostitutes attempting to teach at churches in Corinth) but there is no statement like that anywhere. Nor does the bible condone incest, racism, or slavery. People with dark purposes have tried to claim that for years, but clearly anyone who has studied the Bible realize it's just ridiculous. As far as homosexuality being a sin? I believe it is sinful, but try not to judge anyone. Perhaps, the Holy Spirit leads you to believe it isn't sinful, I wouldn't slam your faith if you say that. My advice is to read the Bible for yourself and decide.

The bible does refer to homosexuality as a sin. The bible was written by men who were in direct contact with Jesus while he was on Earth. As in they wrote down what they were told by him. The bible does apply to all times because the chapter of revelations tells of events that have yet to occur. Therefore the bible is useful in present day times. However, the bible also teaches us that only God is to pass judgment, treat your neighbor as you wish to be treated, and not to keep hatred in your heart. Even though I do not agree with the practice of homosexuality and I do agree that those who die in homosexual sin go to hell does not mean that I hate gays. I have a lot of gay friends and I don't see why not believing what gays believe automatically means that I hate them. It's just not true.

You are saying God is biased...
*laughs*

... seriously ... read the Bible... and apply it... That's Christian life. Being nice, accepting everybody and telling everything is OK is NOT Christian life.

"then i say wel what about women being inferior to men, incest, racism, and slavery....all of which are in the bible and justified"

What?? Are we reading the same Bible?? Pray that God gives you wisdom and intelligence to understand it.

Christians don't hate anyone, but a Christian who rightly divides the Word of Truth, knows what sin is and understands why God hates sin... in everyone, not just the sin of homosexually.

Attending 'religious' school does not change God's Word or His righteous judgement. Jesus loves homosexual people so much that He died for their sin, and all other sins. Don't you think God deserves a little love and respect in return?

It's not convenient hatred, it's feeling sorry for people who are stuck in bondage. I would feel just as sorry for a person who is addicted to drugs. However, this is not an issue that you can label with a time stamp! Homosexuality has been around since the beginning of time and it is just as wrong now as it was then. Just the same with any sexual sin, such as prostitution, fornication, adultery.

Christianity speaks for itself in a loud voice by the study of Christian history. Current intentions can only be derived from an understanding of past intentions and current behavior.

Christ gave specific and very very strong orders for each of us to pluck the log out of our own eyes before we point at the splinter in others. You cannot be a Christian and judge others. There are many false prophets Jesus warned us about. They seek to draw attention away from the High we get from worshiping God and Cleaning our own path to God. THey want there followers to get HIGH from self rightious indignation and pointing there fingers at others then when people are blind to there own faults they are easily manipulated for another HIGH power money and prestige. Check out the pastors Car if its a mercedes he probably preaches Hate.
Its a EGO trip Im on one now, because im judging them, its all ego and it seperates me from God.
MY church at least tries not to judge Gods children. But where all on ego trips none of us are saints.

You're talking about fundamentalists, who say they take the whole bible literally. Which of course is ludicrous if they eat bacon or shrimp.

There's a lot of silly, nonsense stuff that fundamentalists say. The best thing to do is to find out what it means to be a real Christian and become a Light in the world that counteracts their pseudo-christian darkness.

I think you're right on about gay people and the bible.
