i really want to trade my car in to get a newer one but it has some collision damage from a long time ago (right side back rear is kinda smashed in) i really dont want to put in money into this car to get it fixed.

Yes, but they're going to take the cost of fixing it off the price they give you for it. And, it probably wouldn't be worth it to fix it anyway, because the adjuster will be able to tell there was previous damage and you'll get penalized for that too, even if it's already fixed.

They'll take it but don't bother fixing anything when you trade in to a dealer, if they want it fixed they can get it fixed for cheaper than you can.

Maybe depending on the age, miles and overall condition. They're in the business to make money.
