For a supposedly perfect entity to be attributed with flawed human attributes such as compassion, mercy, and anger, wouldn't that, in effect, render "God" IMPERFECT, thus not truly "godlike?"

These attributes are "flawed" because different people have differring ideas of what is considered "compassionate, hate, mercy" etc. There is no one universal standard for these attributes.

Because man made "God." If there is a god, or supernatural, I would imagine it to be more of a force than an invisible, man-like being.

Try describing God (or anything) without comparing it to something you already understand. It is a limit of the human mind that it understanding things in terms of what it has already experienced. So you have to describe anything in terms of other objects - the sun is like a hugh fire in the sky, a lion is like an oversized cat. So of course God is going to describe himself in terms that a human understands.

But who ever said that "compassion" or "mercy" were flawed attributes? When used by a person who lacks all-knowledge and all-power, they can be used in flawed ways. But when you understand everything perfectly, and have the power to do what ever you need or want to do, the "compassion" and "mercy" would not long be flawed. but rather used to perfection.

Who says compassion, mercy, and anger are flawed? God applies them when necessary and appropriate. To suppress those things completely would make God a sociopath. NOT good or perfect in any conceivable way.

Your definition of "perfect" is whack.

Who says compassioin, mercy and anger (not to mention unconditional love and passion and joy) cause a being to be imperfect?

You're idea of perfect sounds more like HAL the computer than God.

In Genesis, it says God created us in His image. I think that means a lot more than that we look like God, which is ridiculous anyway. It means that we have the same characteristics as God -- the ability to show mercy, to forgive, to love.

Maybe to God all those things are the height of perfection.

Great question- if we believe that humanity is made in God's image, then we have to attribute both the good and the bad. The problem comes because people want to make God in their brain- God is this and that, because it's consistant with what I want God to be. The men and women who wrote the books of the Bible were as human as you and I, and made the same understandable human errors. We can, of course, try to rise above this egotism, and allow God in the silence- and in the noises- to reveal God's own self to us, if, in fact, you are brave enough to throw away your preconceptions and allow God to do it.

who said compassion, mercy and anger are flawed? it's more like humans, who are made in the image of God, posses some of his attributes. He is perfect, exceding in mercy, abounding in love, and applies His anger when necessary.

Just because humans make these attributes flawed does not mean that they are that way in the purest form.

Perfect also means complete..

If god did not possess ALL attributes he would not be complete.. and therefore.. flawed.
