If you had steroids with your chemo like I did you have probably gained weight. When you start losing it is up to you. You need to get better, and recovering from chemo takes time. But once you feel strong enough you can begin exercising to lose the weight. In the meantime make sure you are eating healthy, that should help. You could also try Yoga or other gentle stretching exercises to build your strength back up.
I waited about nine months after my last chemo before I hit the treadmill and slimmed back down. It felt great too!

Different drugs, different symptoms.

I was told that I would probably loose weight with my chemo and was looking forward to 1 positive side effect, sadly it didn't happen. On the bright side, I had very little nausea.

If you gained weight, I'm guessing it was very different drugs, what were you given?

Not sure what you are talking about as there are over a hundred different types of chemotherapy. My son has been on ten different kinds and none of them have caused weight gain.

Which drugs are you referring to . . steroids? Steroids can cause weight gain and if that is what is happening you will need to discuss the issue with your doctor.
