Today in the church, people often become so familiar with the teachings of the Bible and the routine of religion that they no longer see Jesus for Who He really is either. They hear so much and practice so littlethat it becomes Christian cliche`
Talking about the Bible but not doing what it says is foolish.
It's hypocritical and makes for you a miserable life<><

No. Its not mere words, you get that in your daily newspapers.

THE WORD of God is a Lamp unto my feet and a Light unto my path.

Word is Strength to me. Yea, it gives me courage and boldness.

The Word directs me in my workplace, my speech, my talk, my, thought, character, hearing and seeing.

The Word tells me not to worry about Tomorrow, Do I have given my entire thoughts and plans to JesusChrist.

If you take care of His work, HE WILL TAKE CARE OF MY MY NEEDS. GOD is Good

God Bless

People who go to church and hear but don't really listen, are going to church because they feel they are supposed to, not because they want to get anything out of it. They aren't doing themselves any good. When we go to church we should do so with the goal of sharing our joy in worship with like-minded people. We should hear the sermon and listen for anything that might be relevant to our individual situations - that would be God getting His message across to you personally. If the particular sermon doesn't seem to affect us, listening may give us wisdom that is meant to be shared by others in need of that wisdom.

While Jesus didn't tell us to go to a building and worship, He did encourage fellowship and that includes sharing the love of God with each other, worshipping together, being supportive and helpful to one another.

For the vast majority of them it is not even words.
Less than half of the ones claiming to believe in Jesus Christ can name even one of the Gospels. This is from a Pew Research study done in 2005. The fundamentalists only scored a very slight bit better.

A lot of people that go to church only do so out of habit.

Others are brainwashed into believing they have to go.

They would all be much happier to wake up and realize that it is all a waste of time.

I don't see that happening any time soon though.

That's probably one of the reasons I avoid churches. Who wants a miserable life?

NO! It is not just words to me. I live what I preach.

LabGrrl [LabNinja], Going to church is definately in the Bible.
Try these verses:
Ac 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
Ac 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
Ac 12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
Ac 14:23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.
Ac 14:27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.
Ac 15:4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
Ac 15:22 Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:
Ac 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
1Co 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

Just to mention a few.

True. I see the Bible as the instruction manual for life. We need to live by it, as our life does depend on it.

When a person just goes through the motions of their belief and regurgitates phrases that are expected, it is time for a savage self examination...
