Does any one know for sure what date it will be? He is Charlie Co., 1st RTBn. I spoke with his recruiter and he was unsure, he said there have been recent changes. I need to know asap so I can get permission to take vacation to be there.

My brother just graduated from MCRD San Diego last Friday. I know that we went to the website for MCRD San Diego and they had the grad date posted. Your employer should be made aware of the situation and understand that you will just have to be gone sometime late in that month. I wouldn't want to schedule anything until he gets done with first phase training anyway. They will make sure he gets through OK so don't worry about that, but in the case where he gets an illness or a small physical injury while his body is getting used to the rigors of camp, he might be recycled into another platoon and his graduation may be later. Like I said don't worry about him to much, they will take care of him. Whatever you do, make sure that you make that graduation. It is something I will never forget and makes me proud to be an American when I see those young people sacrifice for all of us.

When I went to USMC boot camp, we knew our graduation day ( i want to say the very 1st day, definitely within the first 3 days of our arrival )

There is a set number of training days that need to be completed and a counter is posted as to what training day the recruits are on.

Graduation is on Fridays, if the day for whatever reason changes, he will know and be able to tell you in letters home.

The Military is rather anal about schedules. Training time frames are fixed. A change to the reporting date will also have an effect. Any change to the reporting date?
Things like that could have to do with something as trivial as a maintenance problem with barracks or changes to units staff.

I 'm just guessing here,
but they are probably want Thanksgiving off!

why don't you call Parris Island?
or better yet go to the recruiters office and sit there till he tells you for sure. They are very nice to the Moms and they will be more likely to explain the whole thing to you , rather than to your son. They really like their mysterious entrance stuff, but the recruiters know not to pull that stuff on the Moms! After all, who raised these young men so well that they want to be Marines and Soldiers?

and God bless you all!

My daughter was in the Army...., KC wrote what you need to know, hang in there, and I wish you the best, and thank your son for me for serving our country, bless him and God bless the U.S.A.

They most likely will send you information on when he will be graduating. Plus eventually he will be able to write or call and he will know.

Unfortunately, the military could care less whether you see your son graduate. The only want to get him to Iraq ASAP. Forget your vacation, work overtime & buy him some body armor.

God Bless
