You lucky thing. You will have an amazing time, but remember you probably won't get to see everything you want, so make a list of the most important.
Statue of Liberty - book it via the internet with a special time slot. We jumped loads of queue's doing this and because we did it early had a great time. Visit Ellis Island too.
Empire State Building - go after dark and avoid all the queues. The views from there at night really are amazing, you can even see the statue of liberty.
Rockerfeller Centre - go up to the top, you have amazing views from there of Central Park.
Toys'R'Us. Childish but brilliant fun - it's on Times Square and is meant to be the biggest one in the world.
South Street Seaport. A great area with loads of lovely restaurants. Go into the Pier 19 building and find the restaurant on the top floor that overlooks Brooklyn bridge. We had an amazing meal in there whilst looking out at the lights on the bridge. Unforgettable.
Go and see the Flat Iron building - for me it is an icon of New York.
Walk everywhere - you find little hidden gems all over the place. 5th Avenue is brilliant for shops but gets very busy.
Get a map before you go and decide on areas you want to visit or places you want to see. Stick to an itenerary (obviously not religiously) but this should help. Also go round Central Park and have fun visiting some of the museams, we did the natural history one but go right to the dinosaur section as thats the best bit.
Macys was a little overrated in my opinion and there are so many boutiques where you could get a better bargain.
Have a fantastic time!

I'm from England & just got back from NY!
Go to the Rockefeller as it is better than the Empire state!
Thats about $17.00
Madame Tussuad's Wax Museum!
Times Square, Central Park. - The Friends Fountain Is There =]
Ground Zero.
Shopping, Pier 17 is nice it's near battery park! If you get a boat tour around the statue of Liberty you can go around the skyline and see it then walk there after!
Maybe do a "Hop On- Hop Off" bus and take a tour around uptown & downtown New York you can also do a night tour which is brilliant!
Have fun, You'll Love it!
xx
Oh yeah also remember to add tax on! cos it isn't included in the price!

Gosh, there are so many wonderful places to visit in the city that never sleeps. I f you've never been there before, then do the touristy things, like visiting the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island, Radio City, The WTC memotial, St Patricks Cathedral, Broadway & times Square & all the wonderful restaurants the city offers. You'll never have time for everything in one visit. Enjoy! I also recommend the Hayden Planetarium & Rose Center.

I just went to NYC a few weeks ago with my boyfriend (he's from England and I am American) so I will share some of our highlights. We did a helicopter flight along the hudson river which was amazing! Saw all the key sights in just a few minutes!
Lunch at Serendipity III (3). Make a reservation in advance. It is small and crowded, famous in movies, and surprisingly the food was really really good. Make sure you split a frozen hot chocolate.
Check out Magnolia's Bakery, you may have to wait in line. It is another famous spot, known for it's cupcakes. You will see both locals and tourists there. Americans tend to critique how they have changed the cupcake recipe but my bf loved them, they are a little closer to british style cake now. Make sure you try the banana pudding! I am still dreaming about it, absolutely amazing!

This time of year I would go south from Kansas. I am headed to AZ in 3 weeks and I have been told, by the vast majority of the people I have asked, to avoid going through Colorado if at all possible. These are people that make the trip to AZ every year at different times and have tried all the usual routes. They all basically said that going through Colorado from December through March isn't a good idea.

It is so many people walking the streets at all times and during the day it's so bad you are walking sideways through the crowds just be prepared for that.Central park,Time square
Tramp towers,The Empire state building. It's so many things to see there believe me you won't have any problems with that. What ever you do be very careful where you go and don't go out at night if you can help it. The gangs there are looking for people like you, don't wear your rings there or carry hand bags. Just be smart and you will have a good time.
I don't mean to frighten you that's not my intention I just like for you to be safe.I'm not telling you anything the people at your hotel won't tell you.

Definately go to Macy's and go up to the information desk (i think on the 3rd floor). If you show them some idenification that your not an American, they issue you with a Macy's discount card. They usually issue it for 3-4 days and you get significant discount off all purchases.
My credit card is still recovering ....

I watched this show on TV and it was called things to try before you die and it was on New York.
I thought this was heaps sick. You go in this spaceship thing and you feel what its like to be in space, you fly!
Its a bit expensive but i reckon it would be wicked.
Go shopping! New York lots of shops and your turning 18, can be a present.
Have fun
