no tug of war playing; no hitting, punching, tugging ; no spraying; no crating etc ; all this doesn't correct; puppies play bite with Mom and siblings and that is normal pup play; they would correct if out of control; a little peanut butter or a treat from the hand and praise give positive training and reinforcement that is what works and sticks; the old saying you never bite the hand that feeds you works; patience and consistency; no petting until she gets it, just praise; no punishment
NO WHACKING AN ANIMAL ; that is abuse; what if that person answered a question wrong; WHACK HIM ; crazy people; you don't hit a lesser species as training; it is not training only abuse; no holding their snout , AGAIN ABUSE; you are asking to get bit; some people should never have dogs based on some of these answers.

If we are playing and either dog gets too excited and I get chomped on a bit... I automatically stop, say "no bite" in a LOUD voice, and hold their snout.

You must be consistent what ever you do. German Shepherds are smart animals, it just takes some patience.

Even when my two are playing with each other and it gets carried away, someone gets hurt, i stop them and tell them no bite. I have a 1.5 year mutt and a 5 month old Border Collie.

Update:
Why the thumbs down? If it is because I hold the snout then someone is wrong. I don't HURT them. The older one, when he's sleeping next to me, tucks it into my hand while he sleeps... it's a comfort for him. Even some trainers will tell you that is the way to control your dog.

Your puppy is "mouthing" you... She doesn't mean to harm you, but you need to know that your hands are off limits.. I usually would "ignore" my dog and put my hand up away from her mouth when she would get overly excited to see me or too rough during playtime.. I would not overly react or yell I would just not make eye contact or play when she would bite.. DO NOT play tug, she will soon be too strong and she can hurt you.. We have a Rottweiler and it was important to us that she was a gentle giant.. We took ours for good citizen training. Which helped a lot... Also it might be a good idea to get her some new chew toys.. .Stay away from rawhide bones they can be dangerous to puppies. Get a medium sized soft "KONG" toys dogs love em and the generally can't destroy them ! Another "good thing" to do during this time is to periodically take toys away from your puppy and see her reaction, and also move her food dish around and put your hand in her food dish.. Make sure she knows you are boss and that you decide when/where she gets her food.. This is really important if you want you puppy to be around children. Our dog is so gentle you can take a shank bone out of her mouth and she won't growl, bite or anything... VERY VERY important.. Good luck

If she bites make a yelping noise like another puppy would do then glare and walk away. Dont encourage her to play with your hands or feet because this would confuse her. Hope this helps .x
