washing a dog washes the fleas; when wet and they can't jump; tell your vet tomorrow and get your dog on frontline plus; dishwashing advice is not good for the dog's skin and fur ; you try washing your hair with it and then see for yourself as the person who gave the advice to leave it on for 5-10 minutes; stupid answer

Go to the supermarket and buy a flea shampoo. Bath the dog. The comb his fur and make sure there aren't any fleas. Also check if there are any fleas in the carpet, stairs, dog bed, sofa and anywhere else where your dog may have been or they will jump right back on. If you find any fleas hire a steam cleaner and steam your whole house move all the furniture and get in all the corners. Also think where he got the fleas in the first place so you can avoid this situation again. Hope this helps .x

p.s if you have odd fleas in the carpet get some cotton wool and put some nail varnish remover on it this will trap the fleas, then wrap it in kitchen roll, bag it and bin it!

The vet will dip it and put frontline on it for you.

There is not a "cheap" product that takes care of flea issues. So many people ask for this, but there isn't a good cheap product. Frontline costs about $15 a month. Most vets, in fact all of them here, will sell it one tube at a time. It is well worth the price because it actually works. You will pay more than the fifteen dollars on over the counter products that will not solve your problem. Just go to a a vet and buy a tube of Frontline. It will work for about 6 weeks or so, but can be reapplied about every 3 weeks in a heavy infestation. It is worth every penny, and is cheaper in the long run because it does actually work.

You can give the dog a bath with dishsoap and leave on for about 5-10 min.. Just be careful of the dogs eyes and ears.. That will kill the fleas.. Then you can go to petsmart and buy zodiac flea drops for $10-$15 you'll get a 4 month supply and it works pretty well. We live by the wood and I have no problems with my dog/fleas. Also, you may want to go to a wholesale club and buy yourself some baking soda 12 lbs. for $5 and a big box of iodized salt 2 lbs for $2 mix baking soda/ 1/2 salt combo in a ziploc and sprinkle on your carpets/leave on overnight.. If you have fleas your house May become infested.. The baking soda smoothers adult fleas and the salt punctures the fleas eggs.. You will have to vacuum daily for about 2 weeks.. If you have a bag vac. or bagless you may also want to purchase a few cheap flea collars and put 1 in the vacuum to kill live fleas you vacuum up and dispose of bag(s) immeadiately... Also, only use one flea treatment on your pets... Don't give him a flea bath with a flea treatment and then give him drops as well... That's too much poison for a dogs system... It could hurt him... You can wash him with regular shampoo or dish soap that will kill the fleas as well.. Good luck...
