I despise it when people do this. It's almost as if they can't possibly understand why someone would want to take a few minutes in the bathroom. My mother still gets onto me for this--and I'm 29 years old! (You'd think after all this time, she'd understand that I don't like for people to constantly bang on the door and scream, "Hurry up!" or sit outside in their car, honking and then calling me up every two seconds, saying, "Are you out of the bathroom yet? What's going on?!" What do she and people like her want anyway? A graphic play-by-play?)
I think that only people who are unable to empathize with others do this. They only stop to consider their needs, not that someone else might have needs, too. They also don't seem to have the ability to understand that, in all but the most extreme cases, the need to use the bathroom trumps the need to hurry up.
Edit: No one has ever banged on the door or bothered me in a public bathroom. Unless it was my mother telling me to stop wasting time because she wants to leave (NOW!) Most times, this happens in my bathroom at home. Again, it's usually my mother banging on the door or calling me up on her cell phone. Why does she always time it so that she comes over to my house when I'm in the bathroom? It's almost like she's got bathroom ESP.

ha...well I had an experience using a public washroom once. I was in there no more than a min when two grannies started pounding and shaking the door violently. Needless to say I got my job done open the door and went out. The look on their faces...it was priceless....it was like I just slept with her husband or something. Gesh...I should have pounded the door when they were right in the middle of it

Agreed. I only get this in public bathrooms; it's not like I enjoy lingering in a public restroom.

you need time...? take it... dont care bout what they say... they can wait... just be comfy... if you rush you might get off the toilet with paper stuck to your buttocks... lol!!!

i like to wait until they are good and settled on the pot, then yell " fire fire someone call 911". they will get off then. lol.
