You'd think they would have gone for something really horrible, like doing unspeakable things to an innocent child, but no... the worst thing Christianity can possibly conceive of, the greatest possible crime of all, is to upset their emotionally fragile deity. How out of touch with reality do you have to be, how morally bankrupt, to actually believe this?

Er, I thought that telemarketing was the only unforgiveable sin.

You've got it wrong. The unforgivable sin is not blasphemy against God.

The unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost... This sin is unforgivable because it is so hard to do. Most people don't understand what blasphemy against the Holy Ghost actually entails, but it DOES involve the shedding of innocent blood, and the complete and utter rejection of all goodness and light.

The reason it's unpardonable is because the person who commits it has willfully regressed into spiritual darkness so deep that they have lost all desire to obtain light (or do good). A person this evil has neither hope nor desire for salvation. Hence God cannot help them.

Everyone else is redeemable.

P.S. I would bet you $1000 that you, and everyone you know, has never met anyone who has committed this sin.

ADDED: The "unforgivable sin" is anything BUT a victimless crime. A person of such darkness will have destroyed many other people along the way... either through murder or other acts of extreme depravity. You've misunderstood the whole concept... and that's not hard to do, because the Bible really doesn't explain the concept very well.

Let me define "unforgivable sin".

To do so, a person must first be Spirit baptized with the sign of speaking in tongues.
Then you must get some other Spiritual gifts.
Then you must have a personal relation with Jesus (you can talk to Him and He with you, just like you have a conversation with your best friend).

Than you must turn away from these experiences and claim that nothing of God or the Bible is true.

Than you have committed the unforgivable sin and there is NO way to be saved.

Ah that is where the great understanding comes into play. The victim is the one who commits the crime for it is a suicidal wound or a self inflicted wound that results in a second death for the "victim" refused to die the first time before committing suicide.

Yes I do admit to the natural man such is hard to grasp, but it is in my view the truth. Of course not all will agree with a "NO".

You have a very limited knowledge of Christianity. Not all Christians believe this way. When Jesus was asked if God would forgive all sins, Jesus responded" all but sins against children. It would be better if they had not been born." You're doing exactly what the fundies do. You're making broad and untrue statements.

It has become apparent enough over time that the christian deity has entirely different standards to the rest of us.

It probably functions on a totally different level to the rest of us as regards language and meaning too. I almost pity the christians who cannot comprehend that a word itself could mean different things to different people.

[Edit]: To MumOf4 ...... I've done that! ^_^

Interesting points, sir. I reckon something like abuse, or even killing should be the unforgiveable sin. I mean, you can be forgiven for blasphemying jesus and god, but you won't be forgiven for saying something against the holy ghost...btw, wasn't the holy ghost actually god? *sigh* how confusing.

"Funny" is hardly the word I would use to describe it. But then we are referring to a deity who promotes rape, incest, genocide, slavery and other such behaviors when it suits his purposes, aren't we? The whole thing is just sick beyond belief.
