My relationship to the law of Moses is: None.

That law as a covenant between God and the children of Israel. Like any such covenant, others cannot be held to it who were not a party to it.

And also like any such covenant, the death of either party ends said covenant. Paul uses the marriage covenant to explain this in Romans 7.

Christ, who was indeed the God who made this covenant with Israel, died on the cross.

(Jewish) Christians, who may have been a party to that covenant law, die to it through baptism.

The Christian is led by the Spirit of God in them, and no longer a written code.

This idea drives some people nuts, but think about this: Is God's Holy Spirit incapable of fully leading a Christian? Is the Holy Spirit so insipid and lame in this regard?

And the argument put forward by "legalists" who claim, "well, then you are teaching it's alright to commit murder, adultery, etc. This sort of response is faulty. God's Spirit is a Spirit of love, and people don't muder, etc. those they love.

As Paul said, the law is for the unrighteous; the murderers, etc.

Are Christians unrighteous or righteous in the sight of God? Scripture says they are righteous. Therefore, the law is not for them.

Jesus Christ is the promised Christ prophesied throughout the O.T.(KJV). HE fullfilled the O.T. law. HE taught under the law while HE was upon this earth. No one in the O.T. could keep the law, and it is for certain those who hark back to the O.T. to try and live by the law fail miserably today. The O.T. law is the school master (school teacher) to bring us to Christ, i.e., when a child of GOD is first stirred by the Holy Spirit to start searching and learning of the truth, most of them will turn to the O.T. law to try and live by it, but find they fail to keep the law. Therefore, not being able to boast that they have kept the law and saved themselves, the Holy Spirit shows/leads them to the precepts of Christ Jesus in which HE is their all-in-all. That is, it is all of GRACE (freely given by Christ Jesus, not because we think, say, and do things to obligate HIM to bless us, but, simply, HE chose us and loved us before the foundation of the world). Christ did not teach in the N.T. that the O.T. law was what a Spiritually born again child of GOD must follow. Any place in the N.T. where Christ speaks of the things in the O.T. you will find that HE did not tell them to go by the O.T. law: instead, notice closely when you read what Christ said and you will find in all cases HE brought in newness and/or told them that the Jews had polluted HIS O.T. law and HE taught how things were from the beginning, e.g., marriage, divorce, and remarriage. There is nothing in the O.T. or N.T. to prove that GOD instructed HIS children that it was ok to marry, divorce, and remarry as long as their spouse was living: death is the only release for remarriage. Hoyt D. F. Sparks P.S. The Jewish person's reply posted to this question is closer to the truth than one might think. An error they make, as do most people, is that the Roman catholic organization is the true church of Chirst. The Roman catholic organization is just that, it is an organization and has nothing to do with the true church Christ set up while HE was upon this earth.

The law of Moses defines what was sin to the Israelite people--who were in turn the ancestors of Jesus (some of them, at least).

I have always felt that unless there was something in the NT that repudiated the Law (Peter's vision of unclean animals, etc...) then those laws are still applicable to our lives.

Read Romans 6:15-7:25. Actually, I'm sure you personallly are familiar with it... I'm noting it for the other Christians who respond so they can look it up.

To tell you in full, it will occupy much time and space...but to make it short:

to say ...

In the law of Moses, people obeyd the Law fearing the punishment that results in disobeying.

But now Christ asks us to abey the laws in the Love towards Christ. Christ promises not to condemn us ..
John 5:45
"But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set

Because of the Law of Moses people heart just got hardened coz they obeyed the law not in Love towards God but fearing the punishments of diobeying the law...

Thats why Christ came to liberate us from the Law of Moses and set us free in Christ. NOW therefore we can boldly enter into the Mercy Seat where God dwells and have recvd the son-ship spirit that we call ABBA FATHER.

Yes and we are to take this message acrross the World

The law covenant was put in place for the ancient nation of Israel. It was a covenant between God and his chosen people. There are 613 Mosaic laws in the OT and God knew that man could not live by the law so hHe sent his Son to die for our salvation. Christ died so that we might live. His shed blood replaced the covenant written on stone. Even so, Christians today should obey the 10 commandments, even though they arenot under law.

nicely, the way that I know it particularly is that the regulation, the previous testomony stuff, grow to be put in place to point human beings forward, to whilst Jesus might come. the folk have been meant to maintain the guidelines of Moses and all the ideas and sacrifices lined the sins of the folk. whilst Jesus got here, He pronounced that He got here to fulfill the regulation. He gave 2 ordinary commandments, love the Lord your God with all your coronary heart and love your neighbor as your self. He pronounced that each and every of the regulation is wrapped up in those 2 commandments. as an occasion, in case you like God and your neighbor as your self, you will no longer thieve from him, or covet his spouse, or kill him, etc. God did write the commandments. Jesus got here to substantiate the regulation, to no longer distroy it. whilst a guy or woman asks Jesus into their hearts and lives, the Spirit of God includes stay in you. The Bible says that at that element the "regulation" is written in our hearts. it particularly is once you could say that your sense of right and incorrect is an precise instruction manual. The regulation had to be put in place so as that persons might have a generic to stay by ability of, to understand what's sturdy and what's incorrect. Jesus did die for our sins, and we at the instant are in a time of grace, yet no longer a license to sin. "Grace" is a ability, that's the ability of God this is obtainable to set a guy or woman loose from sin. i don't understand approximately each and every Christian believing some thing diverse. I attempt my ultimate to trend my existence after what I examine interior the Bible. God in no way meant Christianity to be a faith or philosophy, it particularly is a relationship. God despatched Jesus so as that guy variety could have a relationship with Him, like Adam and Eve had interior the commencing up. i think of this is one reason issues are so goofy, is that the Christians which you're speaking approximately have faith, yet no relationship with God. uncertain, however?

We believe and try to follow Mosaic law. But Jesus came to fulfill the law. And He sent the Holy Spirit to lead us. Now in New Testament, Holy Spirit is the one who lead us. Holy Spirit will never lead us against Mosaic Law. New testament is the fulfilling of Mosaic Law.

try and follow the 10 commandments which Jesus simplified in that if you love God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself you will be following the. but Jesus for filled the need for sacrifice so we only need to know him to know God.
