I just want to get a rough idea as to how much I would pay in daycare if I decided to find a job. I would need fulltime daycare for my 3yr old and part time for my 6 yr old (about 3 hours a day). I am not looking for exact amounts.... just an idea of what to expect.

I am looking to take them to a licensed daycare rather than someone watch them in their home.

most daycares have a fulltime price of about 25 a day. and then half of that for part time. but depending on your home situation you may qualify for childcare assistance and a daycare center would be able to get you the forms to fill out to see if you qualify.

If a person is doing it out of their home or you choose a licensed daycare facility, you will be looking at an average of 95 a week on the low end up to about 165 on the high end. Most charge 125 a week for all day care. You could negotiate the price for your younger child. For an average of 15 hours a week I expect you may pay around 75 to 80 dollars for him. So look to spend around 185-200 dollars a week for the care of both of your children.

I checked into daycare near my home for my 7 month old and my 3 year old. It was so outrageous! It was $200 somthing dollars for my son and I got a discount for my daughter but it all added up to almost $500 a week!!!! I called other licensed daycare places and the figures were about the same give or take a little bit. I'm in Illinois though so i hope it's alot better for you. Good luck.

In australia we get a childcare benefit rebate but you could expect to pay anywhere up to $60 PER DAY for licensed daycare! That is why its not worth my working full-time as my paycheck pays for the daycare! Then at tax time you get a 30% rebate when you do your taxes in july. But its still a huge outlay to start with.

good luck returning to work!

Usually a day care charges by the day because they are filling that spot with your child that could go to someone that is paying for full day.
A weekly rate should be about $70-135 a week per child with you supplying your childrens food.
Unless you need a total break from your children it might be better for you to open your own day care therefore you will be raising your own children and making money at the same time.
