im hoping to join the navy. many jobs require correctable 20/20 vision, but uncorrectable can no greater than 20/100...
i dont know what 20/100 looks like, all i know is that my eye sight is close to -5.0...is that worse than 20/100?

Here's the standard for eyesight with corrective lenses:
20/40 in one eye, 20/70 in the other.
20/30 in one eye, 20/100 in the other.
20/20 in one eye, 20/400 in the other.
Anything greater than those numbers is disqualifying. That -5.0 is your refractive error measured in diopters. That cannot exceed plus or minus 8 diopters to qualify for enlistment or appointment.

Just go to MEPS when your recruiter sends you. If they say you can go then go. However, I suggest that you don't join the Navy unless its a last resort. From what I've seen they all hate life on those damn boats. Hell, I'm in the marines and I hate life on those damn boats.
