Respect your Parents
You are17 you can have an adult conversation with them, tell them why you want it, you'll be responsible and surrender it to them if they think you have done wrong. Listen to them and their reasons why they don't want you to. Ask them to think about it for a few days. If it is still no, respect that and try again in a couple weeks, if it is yes keep up your end of the agreement and surrender the gun. It will show them you are an adult and get more things you want
Robert D. you are a coward. Anyone can be brave on a computer. Tell your mom I won't be back.

Well, luckily when I was a kid, my dad was an avid shooter but he didn't have too many guns (OK, I have 26 so my standards are a little high.)
Most of the time I wanted to go shooting he would say no. What you need to do is to talk to your parents of how you are going to handle the situation if you want a gun. Are you going to fork up the money? Are you going to keep it in a safe or a gun club? Are you getting the gun as a hobby or because you want to shoot someone?
If you feel that you are mature enough to get a gun, talk to your parents about it. If not, it's OK, you'll be moving out when you're 18 (hopefully) and then you can get your own rifle.

Well, if you are responsible enough, I would just wait a couple more months like you said, and buy your first rifle when you're 18. I am 14 and I have 5 rifles. I have a Savage 30-06, a K98 8mm German Mauser, a Yugo SKS, a CVA Buckhorn 209 Magnum .50 cal. in-line muzzleloader, and a Winchester .22 LR. Remember shooting and hunting safely is the most important thing when owning guns. Best of luck.

First contact your states wildlife agency\DNR. They has a hunters safety course that you need to take. This course will teach basic gun safety. Then you need to talk to your parents and help them to understand that you don't have any unacceptable motives for owning a gun. Finally you have to show responcablity in al aspects of your life to prove to them that they can trust you with a gun. Trust is earned, not given. Hopefully you have been responable with the airsoft gun, if you have not, you might not have a leg to stand on. Good luck and remember a gun is a weighty responcablity.

I reckon wait the few months so that you don't have to put it on their name!then go do the test so that you can legally own one!Maybe by then they would see that your serious about owning a gun and not just going through a phase!I'm sure that then they'll be more flexible!Good luck!

Christmas is coming... -Hang on til then, ask again & I'll BET they'll give you what you want- for Christmas... Look; you've waited THIS long- 5 more months isn't gonna kill you (or anything ELSE- for that matter... -But THAT'S ok...). Keep practicing on that Airsoft...-as "off" as it might be, if you can get reasonably good on THAT- IMAGINE what you'll be able to do with your "Christmas Present" ! :) Good luck!

Is there any way you'd be able to keep it at that gun club? They probably just don't want it in the house. If you kept it there they shouldn't take an issue with it.

in most states, you cannot get a gun license without going thru a class first. be responsible and do that. when they know you are taking this seriously maybe they will change their minds. and if you are talking about a pistol,,,im on their side. at least until you are older.
