actually, they all can require a Clearance, depending on the Billet. Whether or not the rating needs to be eligible for one I don't know..so even if you never actually have to GET a Clearance, you still have to be eligible to get one, and if you can't, then you will not get that rating.

Don't know, but I suspect aviation mechanic is one that may require a clearance, depending upon what you are working on! According to Navy many require"Other Requirements: Security Clearance (SECRET) Requirement. Must be U.S. citizen "

In order to work on or near an aircraft used by the Executive requires a top secret clearance!

I imagine some don't require them, but I don't have a list!

I don't know about the Navy, but in the Air Force all aircraft maintainers must have a security clearance. It's not always high level, but they've got one! Hubby (enlisted) has come home plenty of times unable to answer questions about why the long hours or why do you have to work the holiday weekend. There was one week he spent in "secret squirrel" meetings, regarding aircraft coming through and needing maint.

Also keep in mind that should you Aviation and you really like it there is a nice after market for work.

all military jobs could require security clearances. It all depends on where stationed. My husband was store keeper. needed clearance for some places but not for others.

My husband was discharged the same way and everybody told him he would never work again and he has a good job. Just not a government job. These day they usually will test you and that should be clearance enough. Its worth the shot at, no harm done if you try.
