It seems possible that the taste you are tasting is strongly influenced by the smell you're smelling. Much of taste really comes from a smell.

If are sure no dye got in your mouth then it's likely that some of the sense of taste is coming from the smell. When I have dyed my hair, it still smelled a bit strange for a long time afterwards. I found that baking chocolate chip cookies helped to overwhelm and somewhat mask the dye smell in my apartment.

Your stomach may hurt because of inhaling fumes from the dye. Some inhaled substances can cause nausea or other problems which might be a reason the package might have noted to use it in a well-ventilated area. If you didn't ingest any and you used it in a place that had some ventilation with outside air, you're probably ok.

I'd recommend going someplace where you can get lots of fresh air and can smell something other than the dye. Conditioning and rinsing your hair a number of times may also help get rid of some of the smell from your head area so it bothers you less.

There might be other explanations for your symptoms, but it's probably not too likely if you were very careful applying the dye and didn't ingest any.

If you think you might have swallowed some of the dye then I'd check with a poison control center since it's better safe than sorry. According to some sites, some dyes might possibly contain dangerous substances such as lead which you definitely do not want to ingest. This is probably not likely but it's better safe than sorry if you're really concerned about it.

it's the toxins. make sure you keep it off your skin, that you wash your hands as soon as you're finished and that you put a barrier between the hair dye on your hair and your nose and mouth - big plastic bags from the grocery store work - just don't tie it or put it on so tight it won't let your hair have air.

please be careful - the symptoms your having indicate a possible allergy, or lung disorder, like asthma or copd. try a different hair dye brand too, something wtih less ammonia in it.

The smell of the dye might be upsetting your stomach. Eating alittle something- might help. And try drying your hair as quickly as you can- to cut down on the smell...

Go get a bloodtest, or contact your poison control and ask them.
