I've heard of castrating dogs. Does this just mean removing the dogs testicles? It doesnt mean removing the penis too does it?

its removing the testicles and yes its the same as neutering. A penis would never be removed unless it was injured in some way that it had no other option but to be removed.

Castrating is the removal of the testicales. The penis stays.

Neutering is the same thing, however it is sometimes used as a general term for desexing an animal of either sex.

To remove a dogs penis would require major re-routing surgery. I've only seen it done once, and that was with a bull calf that got banded to late, and ended up with a pretty nasty infection.

It's the same thing as neutering, just another name they use, for removing the testicles. They never remove the dogs penis.

Well, I would not use the word castration...but, neutering is a procedure that removes the testicles (balls) so that the male can not impregnate the female.

It is usually painless and the animal will be up and about within 24 hours.

It is a very humane and sensible operation to protect
unwanted animal over population.

I love animals, but I hate to see or hear of abused and unwanted animals. In my mind, I would say that spaying or neurtering is the best answer.

Best to you!
